-A year later-

I was getting married today. My dress was laid across my bed and my mom was fixing my hair. I was nervous, to say the least. There were over two thousand people attending the ceremony and even more were showing up for the reception.

One of those people was Codell. Over the past year we had talked and become closer. I didn't love him and I knew I never would. My handmaid walked in carrying a bowl of fruit. It was the only the she could manage to get for me too eat without being noticed by the guests.

I had just over twenty minutes before I had to be down stairs and ready to go. The church we were in was huge. It was one of the first churches ever built here and it had been tradition for every member of the royal family to be wed under its roof.

My dress was slipped over my head. I was trying not to visibly shake as I slipped on my heels and walked down the stairs. My father waited at the chapel entrance. My mom and handmaid slipped inside the chapel to go sit while my sister and bridesmaids lined up in front of me. Vincent's little cousin, Maciee, was my flower girl and also the ring bearer.

The music started and we slowly made our way closer to the doors. The wedding march started as soon as Maciee was standing in front with the bridesmaids. The walk down the isle was tense. Everyone was staring at me. As we walked, I noticed Codell in the front. He was smiling and trying to hide how uncomfortable he felt about this. I had told him he didn't need to be here but of course he didn't listen.

His parents were here along with his sister. They were glaring, or trying to glare through their fake smiles. Vincent met my father and took my arm in his.

We looked at the priest as he read all of the stupid scripture stuff that no one really cared about. He went on and on for an hour. The stares intensified as we said our vows.

"Do you, Vincent Godin take, Amelie Pompadour to be your wife?"

"I do."

"Do you, Amelie Pompadour, take Vincent Godin to be your husband?"

I didn't answer immediately. I stared into his eyes and in that moment I knew I was making a mistake.

"I do." I say more confidently than I felt. We didn't kiss or anything, we just turned and walked down the isle and out too the carriage.

Our ride through my kingdom was quiet and awkward. Vincent tried to hold my hand a few times but I would shoo him away or move closer to the door. There's something you should know, I can see parts of the future.

I can't control when it happens or even how. I don't know what triggers it. The only person who was close to figuring that out is being held prisoner for treason. My parents overreact way too often.

I glance over at Vincent who looked to be in a foul mood.

"What's your problem, Amelie? Why are you acting like I'm the plague?"

I remained silent and kept my composure. I didn't need to explain myself to him.

"There are rules we must follow." I replied dryly.

"We're married. We can hold hands."

"Not if I don't want too."

"Cut the crap."

"Watch your language with me. You are in my territory you follow my rules." I say looking at him devoid of all emotion.

"Not if I have anything to do with that."
