"Wooyoung, I wanted to talk about San."
The mentioning of the other's name made Wooyoung's smile drop, sudden anger starting to fume inside him.
"W-what about him?" Wooyoung crossed his arms and shifted his weight to his left.
"Listen, I just don't think hanging out with him is a good idea anymore." Yeosang stated as boldly as possible. The hallways had cleared out unexpectedly and filled the building with silence.
"Really? Why is that?" Wooyoung said back with a cocked eyebrow.
"He's involved in criminal activities, Woo. You could get hurt or worse," Yeosang attempted to place a hand on Wooyoung's shoulder for comfort, only to have Wooyoung jerk his shoulder away.
"Seriously? Where'd you get that from?" Wooyoung chuckled dryly, shaking his head in disbelief.
"I'm not kidding, Wooyoung. He's possibly involved in a gang and we don't know what could happen to you for being around him." Yeosang tried, but Wooyoung only scoffed and rolled his eyes at him.
"And how do you know this? Did you actually witness him participating in any sort of gang actions?" Wooyoung waited for Yeosang to reply, but as expected, the elder remained quiet, not willing to snitch on Jongho. Wooyoung huffed out another chuckle, his hands slowly curling into fists. "That's what I thought."
"Please, Wooyoung. You can hang out with us instead, we'll keep you company, we'll be here for you-"
"Dude, who's 'we'? Because I doubt that means you and someone else." Wooyoung cut Yeosang off immediately, catching the other by surprise.
"What do you mean?" Yeosang furrowed his eyebrows.
"Yeosang, how are you going to promise to be there for me when all you've been doing is leaving me alone? Ever since Seonghwa came back, all you've been doing is ditching me for him then coming to me when you get left out.
Also, not to mention that you were the one that kept encouraging me to get closer to San. You told me to go and give it a shot with him, didn't you? And now you want me to stop talking to him because of something you have no proof of and still want me to believe you?
You decide to push me aside of your life just so you could get somewhere with your crush and now suddenly you want to come and ruin my friendship with someone that's done nothing but actually be there for me and care for me because you know damn well you're not getting anywhere with Seonghwa? Is that what it is? Because if so, that's pretty fucked up, don't you think?
When I saw you coming towards me, I thought you were coming to fix things. I thought we were going to fix things. But I guess not, Yeosang. I kinda thought you'd be happy for me that I've gotten closer with San, but instead you came to tell me to stop talking to someone you know I like. How are you going to tell me who to talk to when you don't even make the effort to speak to me anymore?
The only reason we even sat with each other last time was to make Seonghwa jealous." Wooyoung pushed his hair back out of stress, finishing off his rant as Yeosang stood there dumbfounded by all the things Wooyoung had kept inside for so long.
He knew he had messed up. He knew he had hurt Wooyoung one way or the other. He felt like letting the ground suck his stupid body into a whole that lead him to eternal fire for him to be burned alive. He felt like a sponge, the soap added to the sponge were his actions, the water being Wooyoung's words and call outs for his actions, causing Yeosang the sponge to release foam out of guilt and self- hatred for not being a better person for the only person that truly had his back.
His lips parted to speak, "I'm s-so s-sorry, Woo-"
"It's whatever, Yeosang. Forget it, I hope everything works out with Seonghwa." Wooyoung sighed as he began to walk away from Yeosang. "Hope you take care of Seonghwa better than you did with me." Wooyoung called out sarcastically.
"Wait, did? Wooyoung, where are you going?" Yeosang suddenly turned to catch up Wooyoung who was a couple steps away from the art room.
"To class? It shouldn't matter to you anymore, we're going our own ways from now. Have fun!" Wooyoung sped his way into the art room before Yeosang could even say more. The brunette stood in the middle of the hallway, not knowing what to do anymore.
"Great," Yeosang muttered to himself, kicking the floor. "Fucking great."
He groaned as he glanced up at the ceiling before heading to his own class. He had just lost a friend, his childhood friend, it all felt so overwhelming to him. And even though it was mostly his fault, he couldn't help but want to cry to someone about how he feels, too. He didn't want to go to Jongho, that would be weird. So he hoped that Seonghwa would be in class already by the time Yeosang arrived.
Which he was, talking to Hongjoong and his other friends.
Yeosang made his way towards the table, tapping Seonghwa on the shoulder to get his attention. Seonghwa stopped talking to the others, turning around to meet face to face with the younger.
"Seonghwa, can we talk for a moment?" Yeosang fidgeted with his fingers slightly as he waited for Seonghwa to reply.
He shouldn't have been this way, but his mind easily manipulated his heart. The look on Yeosang's face tore at Seonghwa's heart, but the sound of his father's word continued to replay in his head, wanting him to push Yeosang away again.
No no no! They won't accept either of you two! They'll be disappointed in you! No, Seonghwa! Stop liking guys, STOP LIKING YEOSANG!
"Could we talk later?" Seonghwa replied rather bitterly. Yeosang looked away from his fingers and met Seonghwa's eyes, trying his hardest to bite back the tears that threatened to leap out of his eyes. The younger nodded and walked towards his desk across the classroom, leaving a regretful Seonghwa behind as he watched the broken boy sit alone.
Karma, Yeosang thought. Karma.
