Chapter 14

-Maddie-

I read Myless' text and just got beyond mad. Jake took me out to get frozen yogurt.

"What was that?" Jake asked me.

"What was what?"

"Why'd you look at your phone so angrily?"

"Because Myles texted me." I handed him my phone to show him the message.

He locked my phone and put it in his pocket.

"Um excuse me, I think you have something of mine." I said confusingly to Jake.

"I know."

"Can i have it back?" I put my hand out so he could hand it to me.

"Nope." He said taking a bite out of his froyo.

"Why?"

"Because you just got out the hospital and you don't need to worry about Myles and what he did right now, Just forget for the night."

"Theres one great reason why you're my best friend." I smiled.

"I know i'm pretty great." Jake laughed.

We both finished our froyo and sat there for a while.

"What do you wanna do now?" He asked me.

"You choose, I feel like I make all the decisions." I scratched my head.

We both sat in the car thinking of something to do.

"Beach?" Jake suggested.

"What? It's practically night time."

"Soo whatt! It'll be fun." Jake begged.

"Fine."

Jake started the car and drove us to the beach. When we got there we slowly walked to the shoreline and just sat there, since i couldn't exactly go in the water.

"Do you ever think about the crash?"

"What do you mean think about it?"

"like, how it was basically my fault."

"You ran a red light, it can happen to anybody and were both still alive." I smiled.

"Yeah, I just feel awful though." He sighed.

"How come? Everythings okay, please don't beat yourself up over this."

"Because, when I ran that red light.. I," He stopped for a second, "I was just looking at you. I wasn't even paying attention."

"I was crying, it's okay Jake."

"But it wasn't even that. I felt bad. You are just so beautiful and an amazing girl and Myles should have treated you better, fought back instead of going out and getting drunk and.. yeah."

I scooted closer to him and looked him in the eyes.

"You're my best friend and I love you, I don't care about the car crash, i'm glad i still have you in my life okay." I smiled and rested my head on his shoulder. After minutes of silence and the sound of the water hitting rocks, I started to get into my feelings.

"Jake I really don't know what to do." I said starting to tear up.

"Oh maddie.." He put his arm around me and I buried my face in his chest.

"It just really sucks and i'm so confused"

"Tell me what's on your mind." Jake said.

"Well I don't even know where to start.. I hate Myles, but i just like him so damn much. What he did was wrong, He knows it and I know it.. I want to forgive him but I just don't know if it's worth it.." I looked at Jake.

"Cmon." He said taking my hand and dragging me towards the parking lot.

"Where we goin?" I confusingly asked Jake while following him.

"My house."

We walked back to the car. I put my hair in a bun and turned the heated up.

"Why are we going to your house? Is Myles there?" I said crossing my arms.

"I dont know but I guess we'll find out."

"Jake why are we going?" I was angry.

"You need to face him Maddie! You need closure, or something to start up, i dont know, i don't want you to sit around and be confused. No matter how this turns out, i'll be by your side.. you just need to face him."

I nodded my head and leaned against window. I thought to myself, " this should be fun."

We pulled up to the boys house. We walked up to the front door and Jake opened it.

"Anybody home?" Jake yelled.

"I'm here, Myles and Cam went to get food." Kalin Yelled.

"Wow i'm surprised he didn't go with them." I told Jake.

"I heard that!" Kalin said from coming around the corner.

"I'm gunna go take a nap upstairs, I'm exhausted." Jake helped me up the stairs and laid me on the bed.

"I'll be back later to check on you." He said and left the room. I suddenly fell asleep instantly.

"Maddie wake up." I heard a voice. I opened my eyes and it was Myles.

"Myles." I said back to him.

"Jake said you wanted to talk to me." He said sitting at the edge of the bed.

"Uhm yeah give me a minute." I got out of bed and brushed my teeth and fixed myself up a lil bit.

"Well this should be fun." I whispered to myself before walking out.
