Chapter 2

- Jake -

I woke up from Maddie moving around a lot. I looked down and saw i had red stains all over my shirt. I ignored it knowing i couldn't do anything about it until i got home... I took out my phone and waited for her to wake up, then i thought about last night again..

*Flashback to lastnight*

i was sitting on my bed at 2:15 a.m. listening to music when all of the sudden i see Flashing lights coming through my window from Maddie's room next door.

Maddie and I have been best friends since i was 3 & she was 4.. When i was 10 we promised each other if we ever needed each other, we would flash our flashlights into each others windows. I am now 18 and she is 19 and we still have kept that promise.

As soon as i saw the flashing lights i ran out of my house as fast as i could and grabbed the ladder we kept in between our houses, put it against her house and climbed it. When i got inside her room I saw Maddie on the floor, next to the window. There were pills scattered all over the floor and blood all over her arms. I panicked and lifted up Maddie's head. I gave her water to drink and asked her if she took any of these and she quietly said 'not enough'

A few moments later, after her trying to fight with me, i convinced her she was going to be okay she calmed down. i cleaned her up and laid in her bed with her..

**Flashback over**

'Maddie hasn't been this bad since what happened to her a few days before Myles left her' i thought to myself. I shook my head and focused back onto my phone when i saw Maddie starting to wake up.

She sat up and looked around, then looked at me and then down to my shirt.

"Oh my gosh sorry! i didn't mean to!" she said putting her hand to her face.

"Maddie its fine, let me change your bandages.." I got up and got the rubbing alcohol and bandage wrap.I put the alcohol onto a cotton ball and cleaned up her arms, after that i wrapped them up.

"Thank you Jake your such a good
person," She said while hugging me, "i love you so much"

"i love you too.." I said hugging her back.

"So last night, when you fell asleep i got a text from your brother saying he's
coming back and he wants me
to forgive him..," She looked down, "What do i do?"

"Well, i think that you can see what he says when he tries apologizing and see where it goes from there.."

"okay.. sounds good. thank you! want some breakfast?" she smiled.

"Yes ma'am, do you have any of my shirts here i can change into?" she nodded her head and threw a
shirt at me..

I went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth with my other toothbrush i leave at her house when i spend the night. I walk out of the bathroom and smell pancakes and bacon.

"oh my that smells amazing!" i said while getting a text immediately after.

From: Myles - Hey bro! im flying in tonight from L.A for the summer! Cant wait to see you! it sucks you couldn't come with us this year! But im glad your furthering your career as well! love you! see you soon!

i texted back.

To: Myles - its all good, can't wait to see
you! and thank you myles! love you too.

"Who was that?" She smiled at me.

"Myles" I said putting my phone in m
pocket.

Her smile turned into a straight face and she just continued to make the rest of the pancake mix..

"What happened last night Maddie?.." i slowly brought up.

"I don't know its really complicated Jake.." She said handing me my plate of food.

"Okay, we can talk later Madds.."

We sat at the table, awkwardly eating while on our phones.. What happened last night?
