Lucy was having a bad day.
Her assignments were pilling up, her pharmacology lecturer was adamant on not even giving a hint of what this years final exam could be, her boss had once more threatened to fire her if she didn't come to work on time, and the milk in Temari's apartment had gone sour.

The store attendant, probably a teenager trying to scrape money to make ends meet directed her to the aisle that held the different kinds of milk.
"The blue one."
Con of being part fish was the sad fact she was very color blind. In some cases she could see sharp colors like neon, or red. One of the many reasons she was friends with her redhead hero friend.
Other than that, her vision was that of a poorly drawn manga.

She raced home after blindly picking any milk-she didn't pick by brand, just price. Just when her day couldn't get any worse it did.
It began when she stopped on the way back to view what had gathered the street's attention.
Temari's neighbor's crowded the cause of attention. some looking with disgust, some pity, some confusion. When she saw the peculiar sight it was all three.

It was a dog. A brutally beaten one. A female German Shepard. Color blind or not she was able to identify the dog.
Karma.

It was so confusing. Karma was safely inside the apartment, eating silently. Very alive. This one was very dead.
How could karma be dead? It was only day 3 and she had successfully managed to let Temari's emotional support animal die under her care. The woman was going to kill her, or cry a river or do both at the same time.
Not believing that the dog could be dead in under 20 minutes she was gone, Lucy dashed back to check.

How could she be dead? Did she leave the windows open? The door? Who could have killed her? That wasn't an accident. The dog didn't have tyre marks on its body. The assailant had purposely used something to beat it to death. Why would they kill karma?

When she got back she threw the milk to a direction and went to the last place she saw her.
Karma was not there. In her place was a woman covered in fur. Her tail was curled round her waist and feet manipulated to paws.
"She doesn't have hard copies of her work files at home but rest assured I will find something." She spoke into the phone placed by her left ear. The strange woman was facing the window as she spoke, her back turned against Lucy.

'Holy Fish' She thought eyes wide from fear. Never did she think she'd get caught up in Temari's hero work. And here she thought paying her tuition fees were the peak of her problems.
She carefully began backing away, hoping not to alert the possible villain and to call the police.

"Dogs have good hearing, you know and I could smell you a mile away."
Her ghost practically left her body. The dog woman had addressed her directly.
'Oh my God, I'm going to die'

The villain turned to face her arms folded above her fur covered chest and eyes bleeding into a dangerous yellow.
"Hi." In the face of death, Lucy chose 'Hi' to be her possible last words.
"I need to remain covert even if that means killing both you and that dog."
At the mention of Karma Lucy's pointy ears perked up.
"You killed Karma. When? Why?"
Lucy had never liked the dog. She ate fish and barked a lot. But her death had been ruthless and unnecessary. She had been beaten to a pulp. Skull smashed, tail cut and intestines pouring out her ripped stomach.

"A while ago. I needed to take her place." Weeks ago Karma had suddenly stopped barking uncontrollably and found a new love for paper and glaring into space. The dog's carcass looked weeks old. With flies surrounding her and maggots swimming freely in her decaying organs.
Lucy felt sick in the stomach.
"Why are you telling me all this?"
"Because I like monologuing before killing."

Oh.

OH.

Lucy scampered towards the door ready to run for her life only for her leg to be dragged back and force her to fall face first to the ground. A screech escaped her lips as she felt claws dig into the skin directly above her ankle. The claws cut the straps of her gladiator sandals, blood dripping to the tiled floors.
Her flight or fight instincts kicked in just as the searing pain in her legs began to make her head woozy.
With her legs Incapitated the only option left was fight. And that she did
Activating her quirk, her eyes momentarily glowed amber before water from thin air appeared and smacked the dog themed villain in the face and sending her a few feet away.
