Summary:

Jungkook comes to the planet Marsa after being promised a full scholarship to Marsa National University. When the scholarship falls through, his academic advisor gives him the number for a mentoring service for newly stranded omegas on Marsa. With rent due, no way home, and no success in finding a job, Jungkook calls the number. The organization sends him Min Yoongi, a fellow omega who's been living on Marsa for 8 years. Yoongi teaches him how to survive. Jungkook's first attempt at survival is alpha couple Jimin and Taehyung.

Features: Yoongi doing his best to teach Jungkook how to manage handsy alphas, handsy alphas (like all of them are touchy) taking liberties with omega protagonists, and my best attempt at writing problematic but entertaining sex. A lot of fluff too, actually. The alphas are fluffy as hell with the omegas, and pamper them a lot, even though their actual behavior is wrong.

Review:
Chapters:50
Words: 162,600

Okay, I really really loved this story. Its a very different and creative alpha/beta/omega world. Theres no wolves, just the secondary genders. The story deals with systematic discrimination, oppression, and stereotyping of omegas.

This is only the first book, the author is planning to start part 2 soon. I'm so excited, they left off the story at the climax and I think I can tell where they are going with for the next book, but I'm unsure of happy endings.

The story is set in some future where people regularly travel to and live on different plants and in different solar systems. Some times I forgot that it takes place in some type of future, the story only mentioned futuristic things once in a while, from the Nintendo 94, to four dimensional chess, or the occasional conversation about traveling to different planets. The story also doesn't completely focus on Jungkook, later on in the story we start learning more about Yoongi and the organization he runs.

*** Maybe spoilers? ***

Jungkook is an omega who's grown up on earth where everyone is normal and treated equally. His family didn't have the most money, so when he's offered a scholarship to Marsa, he takes it. When he gets there though, he finds out that everything is a lie.

Marsa is in desperate need of omegas, they are only 2% of the population, so they trick them to come to the planet. The colleges offer 400-500 omega students scholarships, pay for their ticket to the planet (which is $40,000), and then only give about 100 of those omegas actual scholarships. The rest are abandoned, since they all counted on the scholarship, they don't have the money to leave the planet or even support themselves. The only jobs offered for omegas are in daycare with minimal wages. So, omegas use alphas, act innocent and needy and get them to pay for all their needs. But, omegas need to be careful, get too close to an alpha and they will lock you up in their nest (house/apartment) and then mate you.

Alphas act very differently on Marsa than Earth. Alphas think that they have to earn a lot of money to impress omegas to draw them in, have to take care of them by paying all the bills and buying them whatever they want. They pamper the omegas, do everything for them, but they don't let the omegas do anything: no cooking, no cleaning, no working, no need for an education, no leaving the house. Ever. If omegas object to being locked up, mated, taken care of.... well they will learn, they will become complacent.

Yoongi got offered a scholarship as well, but he didn't have anyone to help him, no one to tell him how Marsa worked, he had to figure it out himself, the hard way. After being corted by Jin, Namjoon, and Hoseok for three months, they locked him in their nest, used their scent to make him complacent, and mated him. Now, 5 years later, Yoongi knows how to sneak out, he and his friend built a small company of omegas who mentor and educate newly abandoned omegas. They also work to help send omegas back home and they also work to extract omegas who have been lured into alphas nest or who have been kidnapped.

Jungkook got mentored by Yoongi. Yoongi tried to teach him to flirt with alphas, get money, and not get close to them. Jungkook messes up a little, the first alpha he talked too seemed really nice and caring. Jimin had felt bad for the little omega who doesn't have money to feed himself so, he took him back home to Taehyung so they could both take care of Jungkook. They fed him, bought him clothes and toys, and wanted Jungkook to live with them. After Yoongi helps Jungkook escape, Jungkook, Taehyung, and Jimin talk things through and start over, setting up boundaries and giving Jungkook personal space. Taehyung and Jimin go through a learning curve, trying to change their ideals and habits they were born into in order to make Jungkook happy.

Yoongi's family on the other hand has an unhealthy relationship: Jin is too conservative and controlling, scared that Yoongi will get kidnapped and hurt; Hoseok is too obsessive, he has 40,000 pictures of Yoongi on his phone, has a phone tracker, wants to put a chip in Yoongi to tack his every move; and Namjoon had an addiction to Yoongi's scent, he only stopped when Yoongi stabbed him, now he's gotten help and is more careful around Yoongi, and he ends up being the first one to understand and help Yoongi later in the story.
