Narrator pressed the elevator button pointing "down" to go to the bottom floor where the event was being held. As they- being him, Eddie, and Eddie's mom- waited for the elevator, Eddie nervously played with his shirt buttons. He got a new button up shirt, Mom's request, for the occasion and couldn't decide if it looked nice on him.
His mother gave him a pat on the back- as well as some encouraging words. Grant gave Eddie a quick forehead kiss. The words Grant said stuck into Eddie's mind, and didn't seem to leave as Narrator held the elevator door open for him and his mom.
"You'll do amazing, Honey Bunches. I love you so much."
Why the fuck wouldn't that sentence leave him alone?
