The Reunion

The trio was met by a very eager Cassandra. Emmie was not in sight- rather she was just playing with the children her age. Cassie ran over to give Eddie a quick hug; he told her he liked the bright red dress that hugged her figure. She then kissed her mother cheek and shook Grant's hand.

She led the group over to their table, asking if they'd like any drinks. Narrator wanted some water; Eddie simply asked for a coke, alcohol would be for later at night. Cas called Emmie over, telling her to say hello to her grandma and her tio before grabbing supper.

Eddie moved to the buffet line, holding Narrator's hand (for intimacy and also to not lose his +1.) Grant piled on as much as he could onto the plate- Eddie was both impressed and worried at that. The two went back to the table to eat; occasionally, some family members would stop by, and Eddie wasted no time showing off his "boyfriend."

"Eddie!" His cousin, Valentina waved him down as she dragged her boyfriend, Benjamin, towards them.

"Hey, Val. How are you?"

"I'm good! We were just about to grab dinner until I spotted you!" She grinned ear to ear when she saw Narrator. "Oh, who is this?"

"This is my boyfriend, Grant." Eddie patted Narrator's back.

She continued to smile, but her eyebrows furrowed. "I wasn't aware you were dating, Eddie." Before Eddie could answer, Val reached over to shake Grant's hand. "Pleased to meet you. I'm Valentina. This," She placed a hand on Ben's arm, "Is my boyfriend, Ben."

"Nice to meet you." Grant smiled back.

"Well, we're going to get some food; I'll talk to you later, Eddie."

"Bye, Val."

Grant snickered once she was out of earshot. "She seemed nice."

"And uncomfortable." Eddie frowned. "Ugh, this is harder than it looks."

"Hey, not everyone is ready for a guy and a guy to date." The two were quiet for a beat as laughter and cups clinking filled the air. "Her boyfriend seemed nice."

"Better not cheat on me, Grant."

"Wouldn't for the world."

(Oop, so... I'm going to ignore this book for a bit for mental health reasons. I'll probably update next week but I need to focus on my wellbeing rn. Thank you all!)
