"..see what?"

the cold breeze hushed upon the both of you as you saw his raven hair swayed along the wind.

"we should head back now, princess." he mouthed and offered his hand.

still dazed and confused towards the situation, you took his hand and felt as if time had halt.

"are you afraid?" he asked with a worried look on his face

"be not afraid,"

"i will always protect you, my princess." he said as he formed a little smile.

his dazzling eyes made you forget - "let's go" you said as the both of you began to walk back home.

the journey back did not take long, yet it was silent.

as soon as you reached the gates of your small sanctuary, you felt as if everyone was staring.

"where have you been?!" a loud and irritated voice echoed all over the place.

"head mistress.. i can explain—" akaashi was cut off, he was visibly afraid of her.

"the princess was to stay here until the war was won. yet, you've managed to snuck her out."

"how irresponsible of you. and you call yourself, 'chief'?" she snorted.

"you can be removed immediately off your place." she told akaashi as he was standing still.

"are you doing okay, princess?" the headmistress asked.

"apologize." you said as you clenched your fist. after seeing akaashi visibly tensed, you tugged his sleeve.

"pardon?"

"apologize to my head guard. do not disrespect my men in front of me."

"princess, he's just a mere guard, why should i apolo—"

"then get out of my place." you said as you went closer towards her.

"i do not need," you paused and looked at her from head to toe, "..disrespectful  servants like you."

and with that, you saw your guard accompanying the head mistress out your place.

you turned around to see your head guard looking afar.

"are you okay?" you asked him.

he turned to you and gave a faint smile, "i'm sorry, i might've gotten you into big trouble. she will probably report that and—"

"keiji," you cut him off as you saw a few tears escape his eyes. you took out a piece of cloth as you reached it out to him.

"i will protect you too."
