Mike unlocked the door and opened it, revealing the four of them seated on the couch.
"We are back!" Mike exclaimed.
Then there was that emotional family moment that everyone was expecting. Hugs, gifts, food, and a lot of questions. Your parents hadn't gone to your apartment until that day, so they made you do a tour and show everything.
"So... are you guys happy here?" Mike's mother asked.
"Definitely. It's pretty fun to live with (Y/N), you know. Except for the couch fight and the fact that I have to nag to her because she always goes to sleep quite late."
"First of all, it's is not a fight, it's an organized and peaceful agreement. Second of all, you weren't supposed to expose my sleeping routine like that."
"That's not a routine. You would sleep for two hours a day if I let you."
"I have my priorities, Mike. Maybe I should complain about you too. Do you know that he eats all my chocolates when he's mad at me? He knows that they are precious to me! Also, he likes to scream nonsense when I'm on the phone, and that one I think you already knew about."
"Okay, guys." Your mother stopped the two of you from getting into a bigger, sillier fight.
"What about the girlfriends and boyfriends?" Your father questioned.
"That's one of the things that unite us: we are single. Like very single. Like super single."
"Okay, you don't need to exaggerate too." Mike laughed. "It's not like you don't have all these guys wanting you."
"I can say the same about you. He's a cruel guy, he has this cute face, he makes every girl fall in love with him and pretends that nothing is happening. He received a love letter the other day and said that it was only 'cute'. You wouldn't even believe how many things he receives from Valentine's Day."
"And I give it all to her." He was right. He would always give you his Valentine's gifts because you would make greater use of them. Your parents didn't really get what it meant at first, giving you two weird looks.
"It's not like romantically. It's just that he would throw it on the trash, probably."
"That would be cruel." His mother commented.
You talked for a while. When night came they would go home, but you insisted that they slept there. Traveling at night would be really dangerous. As the next day was Sunday, there was no problem. Your parents would sleep in your bedrooms and you and Mike would sleep in the living room. None of them objected, and it made you think that maybe your parents were getting more comfortable with the idea of you living with a guy friend. Actually, your father was thinking that Mike was gay.
"Why would you tell them that you give me Valentine's Day presents?"
"It's not a lie."
"I know, but they will think that we have something."
"I think they were thinking we had something since we came. Since high school, actually."
"Everyone thinks that we have something."
"Yeah, we can assume that we are a married couple by now."
"Are we really this intimate?" You knew that you were, or almost, but wanted to confirm.
"Almost. Maybe the only things that we didn't do yet were kissing and having sex."
"Yeah, we should do that sometime." You meant it as a joke. "But now it's time to sleep."
