Gleaming sunlight shone through stone archways on a sun-kissed boy striding down the hallway. Green and silver robes billowing around his lithe legs with each determined step he took towards the Ravenclaw tower. Strong brows were furrowed, the corners of his mouth downturned. Even with the small pangs against his heart Donghyuck's eyes never lost their fierceness and burning passion.
The Slytherin was determined to get Renjun's attention, the short-tempered male had begun to ignore him. Two weeks had past since their last true interaction. Donghyuck felt his heart give way to an ache deep within his bones. It hurt more to be ignored by someone the brunette had grown so fond of. Not only has Renjun been actively ignoring him like the plague, he's also made sure there was distance between them like magnets of the same polarity.
Broken from his thoughts the pouting boy stopped before the bronze eagle shaped door knocker that guarded the entrance to the Ravenclaw tower. "If I have it, I don't share it. If I share it, I don't have it. What am I?"
"Romantic feelings for another." Donghyuck's mouth spilled the answer before he could give it any thought. Blinking at the sudden confession he brought a hand up to cover his mouth. His eyes widened to hear the eagle mutter a soft "that works."
Passing through the threshold of the common room, he scanned the swirling sapphire and and silver images. The different zodiac figures moved across the walls and up onto the stary ceiling. A large maned lion pranced across the stars, jumping from one glowing light to the next. Donghyuck smiles softly while he watched a ram chase the lion across the stars, head butting each ball out of its way.
Finally gazing down at the cushioned seating spread across the common room. Dark walnut wood framed the deep navy blue cushions, a large raven was carved into the curve of wood it's beak open in a fearsome cry. Curled upon the cushions and armrest was the boy with familiar pale-rose hair. Imaginary feathers brushed against the brunette's beating heart with a sense familiarity.
Pouting he quietly made his way over to the silent boy, his heart fluttered like a bird caught in a cage as he approached the sharp-minded boy. Settling into the soft and worn cushions the Slytherin leaned against the back, shoulder pressing deep into the surprisingly comfortable sofa. Being ignored by the pale-rose the brunette could feel the tension between his brows tighten from the deepening of his pout. Without saying anything Donghyuck scooted closer to Renjun, fully covering the boy's back like a human blanket.
Said boy squawked indignantly from the sudden warmth and fairly strong arms wrapped around his waist. Failed attempts to turn around pulled a disgruntled groan from the Ravenclaw. Mumbled complaints fell to deaf ears. Donghyuck did not release his hold on the boy's waist, in fact he nuzzled closer face pressing into the rough fabric of Renjun's robes. He could feel the aura of heat and warmth soak through their layers of clothing. It was a welcome feeling even in the muggy spring weather.
After minutes of struggle to get the heavy - not actually heavy - boy off, the pinkette gave up allowing the comforting touch to sink in. Small sighs left him with each shift of his body, a groan tossed in here and there to persuade the boy to get off of him. His feeble attempts drew breathy giggles from tulip-pink lips. Pushing further into the back of Renjun's robes Donghyuck sighed happily, mouth quirked up into a grin.
"Are you going to keep ignoring me Mum?" The brunette's voice broken the silence, chest rumbling against Renjun's back. Renjun could hear the way Donghyuck's lips curled gently around each honey-coated word. No bite clung to each syllable, only genuine gentleness.
He hesitated in his place, the brunette could feel the way each muscle tensed in Renjun's body at the question. "Stop calling me Mum, I am not your mom." The atmosphere grew cold and tense from a simple snip of jealousy-coated words.
Giggling in delight at hearing Renjun's voice the brunette squeezed the arms wound around the pale rose of a boy. His fingers wiggled and rubbed against the sweater covered stomach. The pinkette curled in on himself pressing the tan hands between his thighs and chest. Pink fluttered across his delicate pale features, sharper hues stained his cheekbones the color fading as it slid down his neck meeting the withering vines.
"I'm not calling you my mum, you're anything but my mum. She's a prick."
Renjun silently twisted attempting to get a look at Donghyuck's face, he could hear the pout and hate in the boy's voice. While he twisted, the fabric of his robes was pulled down from the weight of the rusty-brown haired male exposing withered chrysanthemums and vines.
A shocked gasp left pink lips, "w-why are they dying? I thought the chrysanthemums were growing healthy...Renjun?" Said boy paused his eyes downcast unable to meet the deep chocolate brown iris'.
Lithe arms forced himself up and back from the pinkette's space. Flecks of deep blue floated to rest at the edge of Donghyuck's iris' like a settling snow globe. The color swirling through chocolate brown, fluttering about like a shaken snow globe.
His emotions swirled about from the movement of his hands that had grabbed Renjun's wrists. Tugging them into his lap the brunette shoved the sleeves up exposing withered vines, leaves curling and becoming a dry rusted green. Renjun didn't have time to pull his wrists free when Donghyuck suddenly pulled his hands into his lap.
Ducking his head down, lips thinning into a faint cotton candy pink line Renjun's eyes focused on the warm fingers wrapped around his thin wrists. The weight was oddly comforting to him. He watched silently as the rust haired boy brushed his thumbs against the vines.
Each brush had the vines responding, growing and reviving at the gentle touch. Like moths to a flame they slithered beneath Renjun's skin following the bright boy. Donghyuck jerked his hands away shock written across his face. "What the hell. What. The. Actual. Frick?!" Tone and voice cracking from the sudden burst of scared and shocked emotions spilling through each syllable.
Renjun also seemed to be in shock, his face mirroring Donghyuck's. His eyebrows rising toward his hairline, eyes comically widening. "I-I don't know! It just keeps responding to you. Th-the flowers ch-change colors whenever I feel differently..." The look he received from the latter made his jaw clamp shut ending his sentence before he could finish.
"You're telling me that I'm the cause of this weird plant thing to grow inside your skin?! Why would it respond to me? It's not like you have feelings for me. If anything you hate my guts, you're putting up with me because of our friends." Wavering where he sat Donghyuck looked into the mirror that was Renjun.
Brown eyes met conflicting emotions clashed with one another.
Donghyuck was unable to register the spark of sadness and hurt flickering within the latter's iris'.
"Yeah, I-I don't know why it responds to you! Okay Hyuck?!" Renjun's voice was hoarse and cracking rough and splintered around the edges of each word.
Green flashed like glitter in sunlight within the depths of the rose's chocolate brown eyes. The vines tightened with the strain of his words. Stems and vines clenching around his heart, rough and pinching the organ. Sputtered gasps left Renjun, hands clenching the rough fabric of his gray robes.
Panic lodged itself in the sun-kissed male's throat as an impossible to swallow lump. "Injunnie? What's wrong?" Warm hands reached to press against the slim pale one Renjun had already pressed to his chest.
At the flood of heat his body started to calm, the torrent of pain stilled like a lake on a clear day. Each wither chrysanthemum adorned on the pale expanse of the pinkette's skin bloomed into a beautiful shade of pink, the color varying in intensity because of the hailstorm of conflicting emotions Renjun held. Gentle hands curled over Renjun's fingers holding his smaller palms within his own.
Looking up he noticed crystalline tears flow down the porcelain skin in rivets. Without thinking Donghyuck wrapped his arms around Renjun's shoulders tugging him into his chest, his chin resting atop the head of soft pink hair. "It's okay, just stay near me okay? We'll figure this out, just please please be careful. I don't want whatever the flower to cause you more harm because of me." Each word was murmured into the chrysanthemum pale pink locks, one hand caressing along Renjun's spine while the other laced their fingers together.
