Couples chattered through the hallways, awake with the strings of affection and hope tugging them along. Gifts clutched between their fingers, giddy smiles and heartfelt laughter. Donghyuck smiled upon seeing groups of friends sprawled across the grounds. It warmed his heart to see students cherishing each other on the day of love.

The male thought of the day as nothing but the perfect time to drag friends around and show them how much they mean to one another. Granted, this doesn't always end well considering there were a few couples sprinkled within the group of young men. A new one sprouted over the winter and oncoming spring, one that brought a swirling flush of peach to tinge his cheeks.

He rubbed at the darkening flush staining his cheeks — this of course did nothing to help with the color, but turn the lovely shade of peach rouge. Donghyuck smiled faintly at the thought of his significant other chiding him for not studying well before an exam. The brunette couldn't see why his boyfriend felt the need to scold him when he looked like a painting.

Speaking of the short-tempered and well, short boyfriend, Donghyuck was well on his way to visit the lovely male. His dark robes swished around his body like an agitated cat, the silver and emerald tie was messily done, hanging loosely around the prefects neck. He tugged his sleeves up under the billowy robe sleeves, the spring heat slowly seeping through the stone walls of the castle.

His happy demeanor did not dampen upon coming face-to-face with the bronze eagle doorknocker. "Ask me the question you beautiful bird, I am in a good mood." He gave a cheerful laugh when the eagle blinked in surprise — now whoever said that doorknockers couldn't have a personality were definitely wrong.

"What can you catch, but not throw?" The eagle asked the riddle with a slight tilt of its head.

Donghyuck paused in thought, appearing to be stumped he tapped his chin. His brown eyes gleamed beneath the sconces attached to the wall. Their flames burning bright and steady like the clear blue skies hanging above the towering castle grounds.

He snapped his fingers once he concocted yet again a crazy answer. "Feelings, you catch that stuff and you're down. Can't throw it away, because it clings to you." The brunette laughed to himself once he realized he was just talking about his own affection for the boy waiting behind the door.

"Have a good Valentine's Day pretty bird." His nice remark did not phase the eagle as the large door swung open revealing the blue and bronze common room.

Sliding through the opened door he peered up at the ceiling curious of what antics the constellations caused today. A large wolf looked back down at him, it's large eyes glittering in waves with the shift and slow turn of the constellations. The wolf was knocked over by much smaller wolves, pitchy barks leaving their mouth as they played. He softly smiled at the display of affection between the wolves in the blanket of astral cover.

Directing his eyes away from the ceiling he saw Renjun perched on the floor next to the fireplace — unlit as it was a warm day. Myriad of hues were swiped across the canvas sat in the pinkettes lap, his fingers just as colorful. The sunlight filtered through the metal-grated windows adorning the walls, it coated the expanse of Renjun's skin in warm tones, the crimson chrysanthemum stained against his throat glowed beneath the affectionate gaze.

"What did I tell you about breaking into the Ravenclaw tower Haechan." Feeling the weighty gaze of his soulmate Renjun harshly exhaled through his nose. "And will you stop looking at me like that?!"

"I'm technically not "breaking in" as you say, I do answer the riddles your stone-cold eagle doorknocker gives me." The brunette pranced over to his lover, pouting his lower lip out when Renjun sent him a glare clearly saying shut up. Sitting down next to him he propped his chin atop the elders shoulder, he peered down at the canvas sat in Renjun's lap. "That's really pretty baby. I like the blend of colors to make the night sky, it makes the lanterns stand out."

Donghyuck could feel how Renjun practically melted back into his chest at the small compliments on his art. Shades of blue and purple coated the top half of the canvas, small yellow, crimson and ochre lanterns floated through the star splattered sky. The bottom half was yet to be completed — Renjun was distracted with Donghyuck's presence before he could finish. The skeleton of large juniper and cherry blossom trees were scattered between the tiled rooftops of an ancient Chinese pavilion.

Without care the Slytherin reached around Renjun's waist taking hold of the paint covered hands, the colors transferring along his skin in bright streaks of midnight blue, amethyst, ruby, gold and walnut brown. Just to spite his significant other for disturbing his painting session Renjun dragged his hands up Donghyuck's wrists and forearms, the paint streaking into the sun-kissed skin. The honeyed male laughed softly at the cool feeling of fresh paint along his arms, in an attempt to appease the agitated male he pressed a petal soft kiss to the pinkette's cheek.

"I love you." Donghyuck softly murmured against the smooth skin, he pressed another kiss against his lovers hair. Sighing in content the brunette curled closer around the Ravenclaw, his legs following suit.

Renjun's cheeks flushed red, the affection seeped into his skin from the contact of his boyfriend's skin. They simple way Donghyuck never got mad at him for getting streaks of paint across his skin made the pinkettes heart squeeze. He loved this man too much. Sighing through his nose he turned his head to drop a kiss against his lovers lips. The contact warmed their bodies, the chrysanthemums staining their skin hummed in happiness.

"Do you want to paint with me?" His question tugged the brunette closer, he gestured to the short stack of canvas sitting next to him, a box full of all colors of paint next to it.

Nodding with smile, Donghyuck shuffled from behind him, unlacing their fingers to grab one canvas. Remnants of wet paint transferred onto the white covered fabric, he didn't mind, the paint just added character to the soon to be masterpiece — that's what Donghyuck thought, Renjun not so much.

Their shoulders pressed together while streaking color into images and shapes of scenery found outside the borders of the castle walls. Granted, their partner painting time didn't end to well, both found more paint splattered onto their clothing and skin. Happy laughter and distressed shouts boiled down to Renjun holding Donghyuck in his lap, their fronts pressed together. Their paintings lay discarded in front of them, Renjun's back pressed against the couch with Donghyuck happily nuzzled into his chest.

Running his fingers through the mused hair he watched colorful fingers disappear beneath the chocolate wave of hair. The pinkette hummed with a kiss pressed to the top of Donghyuck's head.

The male pulled back to peer into Renjun's eyes curiously, "how are you doing baby?" He cupped the edge of his jaw smiling when the elder pressed into the warm palm.

"Mmm." Donghyuck was surprised when Renjun leaned into the formers neck pressing his lips against the chrysanthemum on the right side of his neck. "I love you too." The words were barely audible, lips ghosting against the soft skin. Gentle and soft arms tugged Donghyuck to lean against the strong chest of his boyfriend. The latter gave in and sighed into the warm embrace of Renjun's body.
