"You're kidding me right?!" Renjun hissed, venom laced with his words.

The pinkette leaned into Jeno's personal space, causing the younger to lean back in panic. Chenle rolled his eyes at Renjun's reaction to the news. He reached forwards pushing the latter's face away from Jeno's, palm pressed flat against Renjun's forehead. His eyes narrowed at the older, there was no need for the elder to act this way.

Chenle pulled his hand away, slinging his arm around Jeno's shoulder, "calm the heck down, dude. Don't overreact to being Hyuck's partner." The youngest nonchalantly mentioned, fingers tracing a pattern on the desk in front of him.

The trio was waiting for their Defense Against The Dark Arts class to start; they were always early. A few other students milled about the space, idly chatting in the somehow always dusty room. Sun beams light up fractions of dust particles as they floated around the air, appearing and disappearing in the sunlight.

Taeil had left up a post notice on the door to the class showing the preassigned partners for the rest of the school year. Renjun just happened to be partnered with Donghyuck. The younger had no problem with the older, it was only Renjun who seemed to bock at anything when the younger was mentioned. No one seemed to know why Renjun had an immediate distaste for the beautiful brunette.

Of course the younger had a sharp tongue and loved teasing all of the member of their smaller group. It was always amusing to Donghyuck to coax a reaction out of the pinkette.

Over the seven years the group has been at Hogwarts, Jaemin and Jeno made it their mission to solve this ongoing feud between the two hot-headed boys. When Jaemin left during their fourth year, Jeno continued to give him weekly updates with owls.

"Taeil-hyung can't expect me to be Donghyuck's partner, I can hardly stand the little brat." Renjun puffed his cheeks out in annoyance, slumping back into his seat.

The chair next him scraped back, the wood worn against the cobblestone flooring. Eyes skittering up, Renjun flushed upon seeing Donghyuck looking down at him with his signature smug smirk.

The brunette gracefully sat down, eyes sparkling at the harsh glare sent him way. "It's always nice to hear my favorite person spew such insulting words about me." Emphasizing one word, the boy's voice carried a condescending tone.

Dull fire bloomed behind the brunette's eyes when his eyes met Renjun's. His smirk grew into a smile, scooting closer he ignored the quiet giggles coming from the Hufflepuff boys in front of them.

"You really never seem to keep that temper in check, dear. Might want to get that checked by the nurse." Lips curling around each word that fell from his lips, Donghyuck proceeded to get closer to Renjun, a hand gently resting on said boy's knee.

Renjun let out a sharp squawk at the feeling, "keep your hands to yourself, Lee. You never seem to understand the concept of personal space, do you?" With that said the pinkette swatted away the hand on his knee and shoving away Donghyuck by his chest.

Jeno swore he saw something golden flash across the latter's eyes, brows furrowing he turned to Chenle. Noticing a similar expression adorned on the ravenette's face, Jeno leaned closer hand gently pulling by his shoulder. The two turned away from the bickering boys, worry evident on their faces.

"Did you see Hyuck's eyes, they flashed gold." Jeno whispered at the same time as Chenle, but he mentioned that Renjun's had flashed green. "Wait, Renjun's eyes flashed green? When?"

Chenle scooted closer, quickly glancing back at duo, who were thankfully arguing about something petty per usual. "When they looked into each other's eyes. It was the weirdest shit ever." At the sudden use of a vulgar word Jeno swatted him on the back of his head.

Sighs left the brunette in soft white clouds, the crunch of snow beneath his boots a small comfort. He couldn't help but think if moving away from his mom after he graduated was a good idea. Even with all of the horrible things she's said and done to him, Donghyuck but couldn't help that he still cared for her. She was the only maternal figure in his life, a terrible one at that, but a maternal figure nonetheless. His brother Taeyong had taken the brunt of growing up before he was even fourteen.

Blinking back the tears welling in his eyes, Donghyuck shook his head, pushing down the spiraling thoughts. Refocusing his attention on the large snow covered stone and glass building, a frown made its way onto his face. He had Herbology next, he never particularly liked the class because the poor boy couldn't understand it. Plants were never his thing.

"Are you okay, Donghyuck?" Jisung softly asked, walking with the older Slytherin to their Herbology class.

The bronze haired boy turned to the other giving him a soft smile, "yeah, just thinking. How was Christmas with your family, I never had the chance to ask." Donghyuck acted completely different when he wasn't around the short-tempered Ravenclaw.

A bright grin made its way across Jisung's face, his expression glowing with happiness. "I had so much fun, I got a new broomstick and a couple books on magical creatures! I'll have to show you then when you have free time!" Excitement radiated from the taller male, his green robes fluttering in the slow chilling breeze.

It had stopped snowing, but that didn't mean that the snow had decided it'd melt away. The temperature outside was slowly climbing to a warmer temperature but the snow was in abundance. It snowed quite a bit over the winter break, the grounds covered in a mixture of thick and heavy snow to light and fluffy snow.

'What's the point of the sun shinning on us when the wind just wrenches the warmth of it away?" Donghyuck complained, small whines leaving him from his frustration with the sun.

The boy glared up at the sun before looking back down at the bright glimmering blanket of snow embroidered with footprints. Continuing to curse the sun under his breath, Donghyuck didn't seem to recognize the voices coming from the Herbology building. Jisung tugged on his arm stopping the boy from entering.

"You don't know what this is either? Oh for Merlin's sake, can any of the professors figure out what this is?!" Renjun whined softly to the Herbology teacher that stood before him. The teacher shook his head fondly, his blonde hair mixed with streaks of pink, purple and green fluttering around his head.

Ten patted the pinkette gently on the head, "no, I don't know what kind of thing would cause that, but I can tell you the kind of flower that's growing." A gentle smile graced his delicate features, gray eyes twinkling. "It's a Chrysanthemum-"

Renjun's heart stuttered to a stop at the sudden bang of footsteps outside the doorway. Tugging his robes closer, the pinkette quickly thanked the teacher exiting before Ten could finish his sentence.

"a yellow one, meaning sorrow and neglected love..." Ten trailed off watching the young boy leave in a hurry. He shook his head, hand cupping his cheek deep in thought.

Just what are you sorrowful and neglectful about, Renjun?

The question hung above his head as students trailed into the classroom, wearing thick robes and a mix of expressions.
