chapter 38

I uncomfortably corrected my position in the chair I was sitting in, and thought of the correct words to say responding to this statement.
" w-why were you with her " I asked looking over at him, as the goosebumps overcame me.
i don't know why I wasn't quite ready for the answer. but if it's just an excuse, I'm leaving.
" well... she had to talk to me, and you blocked her number on my phone so she just came over.. " he said trying to move his arm, but failed because of the needle connecting him to the chemical pouch thing.
" did anything happen " I asked looking over at Jack, awaiting the answer I would dread.
" she tried to kiss me " he said
I looked over at him and nodded my head.
I got up out of the chair and walked over to the door.
" cleo I backed away, I promise " he said
" I trust you. but me and jack are going to head out now. see you later " I said walking out.
I waited in the hallway for Jack, and he finally came out of the room, closing the door behind him.
I walked up to the front desk, and made my way over to Maggie.
" Maggie, can you do me a favor and limit the visitors nash gets, and if it's Nila or family, let them go in. And if it's kaitlyn, let her go in too, just keep an eye on what him and her do " I said pointing at her.
" yes sarge " Maggie said giving a signal.
I nodded my head and walked out the doors with Jack.
we stopped and waited on the sidewalk for a while until we both decided we wanted a hug.
so we hugged eachother, it lasted for a while actually.
it was relaxing.
I felt safe in his arms.
he walked us over to his car, and opened the door for me to get in.
he got in the opposite side and put the keys in the ignition.
he drove away from the hospital, as my vision was focused on the rear view window.
after a few familiar turns, Jack took an unfamiliar one leading down a dirt road.
" Jack " I said worriedly.
" it's okay " he said resting his hand on my thigh.
I looked down at his hand and realized how big it was.
bigger than my face probably.
he braked the car, and got out, racing to the other side to get my door for me.
I got out of the car laughing, and followed him further down the dirt road.
once we got closer I realized pretty quick that Jack was excited to take me to this area.
he grabbed my hand and ran with it, causing me to run too.
we were running for about 30 seconds when, the area opened up.
the little dirt road parted, and opened up to a beautiful forest, with purple flowers, yellow flowers, pink flowers.
Jack lead me to the edge of the forest, where there was a little lake, with a lot of skipping stones.
with his hand still in mine, he sat us down on the grass, and he looked over at me.
" tell me all of your deepest secrets " he said laughing.
" why " I said looking back at him.
I focused my eyes back on the lake and admired its flaws. and embraced it's beauty.
" you pretty much know all of them " I said looking back at him.
" I'm an open book " I continued.
" i have something to tell you " Jack said.
I looked over at him and nodded, letting him continue.
" well first, look at me.. does anything look familiar? from your past? " he said pointing at his face.
I slowly shook my head and let him continue.
" wow cleo that's a big snowman " he "said in his best imitation of a little kid.
all of a sudden, the memories flooded back to me.
2-8th grade.
Jack Gilinsky.. my bestfriend.
in awe I stood up and backed away.
" j-Jack " I said grabbing his hand.
i looked into his eyes and remembered that I had the biggest crush on him in 5th grade.
I hugged him really tight and didn't want to let go.
I was so upset that I didn't remember, but if I did, this moment wouldn't of happened.
" you remembered " he said smiling and pulling away.
he held onto my sides as I nodded and said
" Jack we are going to be besties, I can tell forever " I said in my best imitation of a child.
he laughed and hugged me once again, and we sat back down by the lake.
I layed down on my stomach, facing Jack, and he layed down facing me.
" you're beautiful " he said smiling.
I blushed and looked away.
" Jack, how did we get seperated in eighth grade " I asked
" my parents got a divorce, and I moved with my dad to Omaha. and I told him I wanted to see you again, so him and his girlfriend moved down here " he said.
I nodded and said
" I knew you looked familiar " getting up and walking down to the pebbles.
I picked one up, and threw it in the water, trying to skip it, but failing.
I heard a bing on my phone, and I picked it out of my pocket.
It was a text from Maggie,
" Kaitlyn is here, showing her to his room now "
I rolled my eyes and threw my phone up on the grass hill so It would be away from the water.
I continued skipping rocks and Jack asked
" who was that "
" just Maggie, kaitlyn is at the hospital " I said tearing up, unnoticeably.
I continued throwing my rocks, and Jack noticed that my throws got a little less more triumphant.
he walked over to me as I still was throwing rocks, and hugged me.
I cried into his shoulder and the moment was perfect until Jack, being as clumsy as he is, tripped over a rock with me still in his arms.
we fell on the grass, still in our hugging positions, until I started laughing uncontrollably.
" jac-k you never fail to make me laugh " I said between my laughs.
he laughed along with me, and helped me up.
we walked over to my phone, and once I got it, we headed back to the car.

we pulled into jacks driveway and I got tons and tons of bings on my phone.
from Maggie
" he leaned in "
" he kissed her "
" she's laying with him "
" wtf "
" cleo are you okay "
" she's leaving "
" she kissed him goodbye "
" he looks happy "
I got out of the car, hiding my emotions.
and walked in the door, trailing behind jack.
I walked over to the couch and read the messages over and over.
I threw my phone to the other side of the couch and stuffed my head in my knees.
I cried and cried until Jack realized I was. and came over to tend to me.
" Cleo "
" cleo what's wrong " he said shaking me.
he hugged men until I calmed down, and he let me rest my head on his shoulder.
" nash kissed kaitlyn " I said crying at that sentence.
Jack huffed and looked down at me. he lifted my head up and rested it on a pillow and stomped to the door.
" Jack where are you going " I said as he was putting his sweatshirt on and his vans.
" I'm going to beat nashs ass " he said running out of the door.

this is so exciting oh my god.
sadly I can't update tonight, but I might tomorrow, because I have exams next week and today I'm going to my friends house to study.
