(Your fathers sword)

After much debate with your mother, her wanting you to bring the sword with you on your first day and you not wanting to. You decided to bring it, so you could help honor your fathers memory. You were nervous walking into Bright Moon castle, but made sure to mask it with a stoic look. You did get some questioning looks from older guards when they saw your sword, maybe bringing it was a bad idea. You walked into the throne room to get your assignment, when you see not only the Queen but the Princess and her friends as well. You bend your head down as a sign of respect before standing straight and at the ready, like your father taught you. The Queen stares at you for a moment before speaking, "You know, you look so much like him." Now you were confused and so were the Princess and her friends. "Mom?" "I wasn't sure at first, the sword fighting was the same and the stance was what he used to do. But what really gave it away was the sword. King Micah gave it to your father on your father's... tenth year working as a his personal guard." You were shocked, to say the least. "My father was the King's personal guard?" Why had he never told you this? "Yes and a dear friend. Is he here with you?" You bow your head and blink away tears, "He died a few months back." Queen Angella gave you a small smile of sadness, "And your mother?" Now that made you smile, after losing your father you treasured your mother and even though you didn't spend as much time together anymore. "She is on of the most popular bakers in town." Angella noticed how you perked up at the thought of your mother and smiled. "You should bring her with you tomorrow, I miss her pies."

Dad and mom were friends with the King and Queen? How come they never told you? "I will. But umm... I was here to get my assignment." You say, feeling kind of bad for ending the conversation with the Queen. The Queen just smiled, "Always all work no play, just like your father. Until Micah finally got him to loosen up. But yes, your assignment until further notice is to be Princess Glimmer's personal guard." You nodded your head in understanding before looking at the Princess and giving her a small smile, causing her to blush and return the smile. Glimmer's friends, Bow and Adora, were shocked that Glimmer seem okay getting a personal guard. Glimmer always seemed to hate the idea of being watched over, but now she was okay with it? However, once Bow and Adora caught the blush of the Princess that they knew why she was okay getting a personal guard. "Princess Glimmer will show you to your quarters." Angella said as she nodded her head to Glimmer, who took that as a sign to leave and grabbed your hand and walked off. You blushed at the contact before remembering that you couldn't get close to anyone, couldn't let anyone find out your secret. Your mom was happy here and doing what she loved, you couldn't take that away from her.

So you gently removed your hand from Glimmer's hand and stood up straight and followed behind her. Glimmer's smile lessened a little before she shook her head and started asking you questions, Adora and Bow joining in too. "So what's your name, I just realized I never go it." Glimmer asks nervously. "My name is y/n. Nice to meet you Glimmer. What are your guys's names?" You ask looking back at her friends. "I mean I know you're She-ra but like your real name." Adora smiled at the fact that you wanted to know her and not just She-ra. "I'm Adora and this is Bow." You give them a smile, "Nice to meet the two of you." "Okay, here is your room, you can change it to however you want it to be. Since you are my personal guard, my room is right across from mine. You basically have a free day today and start tomorrow. I have a Princess Alliance meeting tomorrow morning, so we'll have to get up a little early." You nod your head in understand, "Where is the training room?" "Down the hall, take the second right, last left, and then it's the third door on your right." "Great thanks."

(I know its kinda short, it's kind of a fill in chapter but also gives you a little background on your parents life in Bright Moon. But y'all ever read a story you had started writing and then stopped? I have like 5 of them and let me tell y'all. My writing back then, nasty, gross, terrible. Like I am surprised how much better writing has gotten from before.)
