another-short-but-actually-kinda-long-a/n-before-this-chapter-begins:

yes, i know, you're sad this chapter came out late, or you're angry i didn't keep my promise, but i swear to you i got my karma, or i was just clumsy. whatever you think it is, it's up to you.

SOOOOOO a few days ago i tried to sit on this hammock. underneath the hammock was pure cement. like the real shit. i was trying to lay down on the hammock, but the fabric wasn't laid down properly.

THEREFORE my entire left side fell flat onto it and now i have bruises. it still hurts.

anyway, laugh all you want. i deserve it, lmfao. tbh, i find it funny too. i laughed a fuck ton after i fell, AHAHHAAHA.

so i give you my consent to laugh :)

okay that's it. thank you for being patient with me, i love you guys

also, this is in Erinne's pov. i can't find the picture of her pov thing, but i'll put it in soon—if i remember...

Dad and I got there about ten minutes after we had our talk at the bookstore. It took a while since the cashier was an old lady who was scanning each book really slowly, and I had a lot of books, but otherwise, the drive was really fast.

As for the tension between Dad and me, I'd say it was almost gone.

"Benjamin, are you alright?" Dad asked after he slammed the doors open.

To the ordinary eye people would think Ben was fine, but if you looked really closely, you could see the tears forming in his eyes.

"Yeah, I'm alright." Ben sounded sarcastic, but dad believed him.

"Well, what happened to Elijah?" Dad asked.

"He... He was shot during his morning walk. Straight in the head. If only-"

I heard a gasp. I turned and found everyone watching us.

"Jules, it's- it's okay," Rae whispered.

"No, it isn't." Jules' face was still and his voice was calm as he walked upstairs, but something was bothering him.

I heard footsteps echo in the silent room.

"Amelia, I need to know what happened," dad said.

I turned to the long hallway and faced Amelia. She was dressed scarily, like she was prepared to shoot down anyone at anytime. Her happy expression had faded into a guarded one.

"Planned on doing just that," she said. They both walked upstairs to what I'm guessing was dad's office.

The mood in the room was really bad. We walked to the couch. It was extremely big and looked like it had a lot of repairs. It was black leather and looked worn out, like everyone used it.
