After he hung up, I stood in silence, hearing nothing but the birds chirping and the wind blowing.
"Are you okay?" Amelia asked in a worried tone.
"I'm fine, but by any chance, do you know where my dad is?" I replied.
"Yeah." Amelia walked over to Ben and after they exchanged a few words, the both walked towards me.
"Ben will escort you to the place-" Amelia put a hand on my shoulder- "I'm sure your conversation with your dad will be just fine."
She knows? I asked. But how? Before I could ask Amelia, she walked away.
"It's just you and me, Goldie," Ben said.
"How did Amelia know that I was going to talk to my dad?" I asked.
He laughed nervously. "I'm sure she just put 2 and 2 together and found out what you wanted to do."
"Yeah," I muttered to myself.
We walked towards the parking lot and after we got situated, Ben started driving. It was silent, for a while, until I asked, "Where are we going?"
"To your dad's work," he replied.
"I've... never been there," I admitted.
"Yeah, I know."
I looked at Ben, wondering why he would know that.
"We're here!" He said cheerfully.
I looked up and found a big mansion. So this is where dad worked?
Ben drove to the front of the mansion and we both got out. He handed his keys to a servant, but not before threatening, "If you get one scratch on BD, say goodbye to your salary."
The servant hesitantly nodded before Ben put on a cheery smile.
"Ben, was that really necessary?" I asked.
"Yes, Erinne. I care about BD."
"It's a car!" I argued.
"Shut up! He can hear you."
