The next night
"Babe, there's something you need to hear" Bakugo shoved a stick of orange in my face trying to wake me up faster "hey! Do you know how bad that stuff smells?!" The king only rolled his eyes throwing the rod to the side "I researched what smells cats hate - citrus was among them" I unwrapped myself from Kirishima gently climbing out of bed

"We caught the catfolk that tried to dart you but the animal won't leave until she sees you. Claims to be some sort of relative? Didn't you tell Kirishima you don't have any?" I stopped walking and stared at him, he already knew the answer to his own question "after all I've told you, after all we've been through - what do you think?"

For a while, he just searched my eyes for any signs of a lie being told "I think I'll love you no matter what" I threw my hands in the air in frustration "what?! Okay, let me ask you this - am I the sort of person to fake family drama or traumatic experiences just for attention of a king I barely knew nor cared for? If I lied, where'd I get the scars you adore?"

His head fell "I'm sorry, I shouldn't of doubted you like that. We're supposed to be getting m-" I put a kiss to his lips clicking my fingers behind my back "catfolk hearing is a lot better than dragonfolk. We can't focus with clicking, it distracts us like a dragon with gold" I could feel his breath down my neck as we conversed inches from each other

Once we were done, he entered the great hall sitting on his throne
"I demand an audience with the spymaster! She'll know what I'm talking about!" Bakugo chuckled darkly "We conversed, she doesn't understand a word of what you're sayi-""Let me speak with her! She'll understand if it's coming from one of her own! I know she's catfolk, I've seen her"

I swayed into the room trying to act clueless "Is everything alright, my king?" He motioned for me to come closer which I did eyeing the newcomer cautiously "this extra wants an audience with you" I tilted my head pretending to be surprised "with...me?" I pointed to myself as he nodded assertively.

I made my way down the steps examining the catfolk before me circling her before making my way back to Bakugo "am I obliged to an audience alone?" I could see he wasn't happy with the idea so I begged a little further snapping my fingers behind me repeatedly "Please? You can wait outside if you really like" his hand wrapped around my waist before trailing across my stomach as he fled the hall - now it was the hostage, me, and the guards...alone.

"He's using you! He doesn't care about us! Can't you see?! You're just a low life like me! Come away with me, to our family. He gave you those scars didn't he?! We can keep you safe - you don't have to be a captive anymore" she blurted our accusations faster than I could stop her

"Captive? Is that what you think is happening here?" I needed to tell her as little information as possible but extract all I could from the girl who nodded her head repeatedly "Trust me, trust you're family! They love you! They want you to come home! This is a toxic situation, and I'm here to pull you out" did she really believe all that crap?! I'd never been happier here! I was on my deathbed in that dumb catfolk society! I'm better suited as a dragon than 'one of her own'

"I don't understand" I stood with my hands clutching the back on my neck, I couldn't wrap my head around anything she'd just told me. It wasn't like I believed her but I hadn't decided if she was drunk or just plain crazy but she had to be one of them to act in such a manner!

"You don't have to, you just have to come with me" her hand outstretched towards me as if I knew her. Out of the corner of my eye, Bakugo stood in the doorway with a concerned expression on his face which broke my heart into a million pieces, and now I had to pick up the shards. No one got to hurt my babies!
