Meanwhile, the Company of dwarves and a hobbit continue their journey toward the Lonely Mountain. Bilbo who was falling behind the others stopped to look back at Rivendell.

Thorin turned and saw Bilbo he began to speak to the young hobbit, “Mr. Baggins I suggest you keep up.”

Back at Rivendell, Gandalf and Lady Galadriel are talking about the Company. “You’ll follow them?”

Gandalf replied in a serious look, “Yes.”

Galadriel looked into Gandalf’s eyes and spoke to him again, “I admire your courage Mithrandir. But I fear this quest has set forces we do not yet understand. Something was in the shadows unseen and it will not show itself. You must be careful.”

Gandalf nodded and walked down the stone steps. Galadriel then turned to him and spoke again, “Mithrandir. Why the half-ling?”

Gandalf turned to Galadriel and spoke in a voice of worry (sort of), “I don’t know. Saruman believes that is great power that can hold evil in check. But that is not what I’ve found. I’ve found that is the greater good that has kept the evil at bay. Why Bilbo Baggins? I guess it is because I am afraid and he gives me courage.”

Lady Galadriel walked up to Gandalf and grabbed his hands as she spoke, “Do not be afraid, Mithrandir. You are not alone.”

Lady Galadriel looked into Gandalf’s eyes and said softly to him, “If you ever need my help, I will come.” Gandalf nodded to Galadriel just as she disappeared. Thorin and the rest of his Company made their way across the plains toward the mountains where Goblins were living. As they made their way across the mountain plains Eminork collapsed.

Thorin’s nephews and Bilbo came to her aid. Kili ran ahead and grabbed his uncle, “Thorin! Eminork has collapsed. We believe she is sick.” Thorin turned to Kili and ran ahead of him to Eminork who was now being accompanied by the rest of the dwarves.

Thorin felt Eminork’s hands. He sighed and said with relief, “She is only tired and hungry. Quick does someone have food for her?” Fili stepped up and gave Eminork some meat and bread. She thanked him in a nod and ate. Once she was done Eminork rested for awhile then they pushed on. Slowly they made their way into the Goblin mountain range where a storm was gathering but it wasn’t a storm at all it was a battle. A battle between too Mountain Men or Stone Giants as you might call them.

Thorin who was ahead of everyone yelled back to his Company, “We must find shelter!” As the Company made their way through the mountains Bilbo slipped and almost fell off the mountain but Dwalin caught him and pulled him back up. Just then a large boulder came crashing down on the mountain side where the dwarves were carefully making their way through. Thorin saw Eminork who had just slipped and was now hanging on the side of the cliff. He handed Dwalin his axe and helped her up.

She hugged Thorin and stayed close to him as more rock fell from the crushing boulder. Just as the storm became more worse a Stone Giant emerged from the mountain and picked up a large chunk of the mountain side and threw it at another Stone Giant that came around the other mountain. It was not a thunder storm happening here it was a thunder battle. Just as the Company backed up close to the mountain it began to split in two. The Company was walking on a Stone Giant. Just as the Stone Giant emerged from his mountain a head butt was thrown at the Stone Giant. They were still battling.
