_______________

The Blue Spirit sat in the bushes on the outskirts of Pohuai Stronghold. He was preparing to infiltrate the fortress, waiting for the right moment to seize the Avatar from Zhao. He sat patiently, his dark attire helping him against the cold night's wind.

Admiral Zhao grew impatient as he waited for the Yuyan Archers to return with his prize. The Blue Spirit turned to see the archers heading towards the outer fortress wall with the Avatar, who was tied up in a net looking terrified.

The Blue Spirit smiled against the mask and followed after them gracefully, waiting until they were allowed in through the walls.

Zhao ordered the men to tie the Avatar up in metal chains so he couldn't bend. Aang felt hopeless. No one knew where he was, and his friends were ill. Who was going to save him now?

As he hung in a cell within the fortress, the door opened to reveal a delighted man whom Aang had never seen before. The man smirked and walked over to him intimidatingly.

"So, this is the great Avatar. Master of all the elements. I don't know how you've managed to elude the Fire Nation for a hundred years, but your little game of hide and seek is over."

"I've never hidden from you! Untie me and I'll fight you right now!" Aang yelled at Zhao, who smiled at him in return.

"Uhh, no. Tell me, how does it feel to be the only air bender left? Do you miss your people?" Aang looked down sadly, the man's words hitting close to his heart.

"Don't worry, you won't be killed like they were. See, if you die, you will just be reborn, and the Fire Nation would have to start searching all over again. So, I'll keep you alive, but just barely."

Just as Zhao began walking away, Aang took a deep breath and blew gale force at the admiral, forcing him to fall over and crash against the wall. Zhao spun around, frustrated.

"Blow all the wind you want, but your situation is futile. There is no escaping this fortress, and no one is coming to rescue you." Zhao slammed the door behind him, leaving Aang alone in the dimly lit chamber once again.

During the encounter between Aang and Zhao, the Blue Spirit hid under a moving wagon, clinging to the underside. As they reached the gate, he hid from the guards successfully as they allowed the wagon inside the walls of the fortress, including the mysterious spirit.

But he wasn't the only one.

Earlier...

Saria huffed as she vacated Zuko's room. She couldn't believe how easily he had given up. She had to do something, even if she was still feeling a bit unwell.

The girl walked around the ship, trying to find some sort of weapon and disguise.

"Bingo." In one of the rooms, the girl found an old katana hung up as decoration. When she picked it up, she swung it a few times, testing the weight. It seemed so familiar; perhaps she was a fighter before she lost her memories.

On the other side of the room lay an elaborate mask painted white with lines of red and gold and a red swirl on the forehead. Coming off the mask were red tassels with gold coin-like beads hanging off them. It was perfect. She grabbed the mask and snuck through the ship once again, coming out on the other side. She looked behind her in case she was followed. Once she knew she was safe, she jumped off and swam towards the land, ready to help her new friend fulfil his destiny.
