im back bitches.
maybe.
"Hi."
"Yo."
"Alliance?"
"Hell yeah."
Sakura blinked as the two men shook each other's hands—effectively ending the war between their two clans as casually as if they were simply deciding on who should cook dinner. She was fairly certain that was not how it went down in her timeline.
Madara, now a fine young man at twenty four years old, had just taken his father's place. The death of the last member of his family washed over him like rain water, not affecting him in the slightest. Sakura wasn't sure if it was due to his hardened emotions over the loss of everyone else in his family or simply because he didn't like his dad. Tajima Uchiha—an old fart by then—had passed away in his sleep due to an illness that Madara's now refined medical jutsu "could not cure". As the first thing he did in his transition into the position of clan head, he met up with Hashirama and declared the war between their two clans officially over.
"Alright, well see you later."
Before Madara could leave, Hashirama pulled him into a hug. "Thanks, I don't know if I could survive a longer war. Thank you for letting me leave this shit behind with some family left."
Madara bit his lip at Hashirama's unintentionally insensitive comment. He didn't react so he wouldn't make Hashirama feel bad, his best friend was a really annoying profuse apologizer in the past and Madara doubted he had changed much over their years apart.
"Shit, man, I missed you. I'm glad we could keep this friendship going through Saku-chan but it's really nice to see you again." Despite their lax demeanour when shaking hands earlier—likely because ending the war as soon as they could only seemed natural to them—Sakura could feel the rush of emotion overtake Madara at his friend's words.
"I missed you too, Hashirama. Let's start meeting up to skip rocks like before."
"Dude let's build a village together like we talked about when we were younger. Then we can skip rocks together everyday."
Madara felt a grin overtaking his lip as he pulled his friend back in for another short hug. Sakura felt her own warm emotions well up at the thought of her beloved village coming into existence under the care of this seemingly unbreakable bond.
"How's Saku-chan doing, by the way?" Hashirama's ears turned a little red.
Madara raised an eyebrow. "She's doing alright."
"Can you tell her she can come skip rocks with us too if she wants?"
"Do you have a crush on her or something?" Madara slapped his friends back with a toothy grin.
"N-no way! I thought you were dating her!"
Sakura could feel the warmth of Madara's cheeks in hers. "Nah bro, no way. You can have her."
"I'm not something you can just give to hi–" Sakura began scolding in his head.
"...really?"
"Yeah, for sure."
After catching up for a bit longer and promising to meet each other again the next day, the two parted ways. Madara made his way back to his clan's settlement and caught the eyes of many as he emerged from the forest. Curious as to where he gone directly after learning of his fathers death, the Uchiha clan members watched Madara flex his legs and make a leap to the top of the tallest nearby building.
"Alright, war's over! You guys can relax now!" He watched the surprise pull on the faces of his audience, waving off the questions that were shouted his way and elaborating a little: "All you need to know is that I've reached an agreement with the head of the Senju clan and have decided to form an alliance with them. He is likely informing the Senju of this right now. From now on we are allies." He raised his voice to a yell, a precaution to ensure that his words would reach everyone they could, "Although it may be difficult to put the loses we have all suffered behind us, we must understand that both parties were at fault in this war and we caused just as much suffering for them. You are expected to treat the Senju clan with respect. Any one who does not will be deemed a threat to the alliance and a traitor to the Uchiha clan." With that, Madara jumped off the roof he was perched on and landed on the ground gracefully.
No one dared to approach the young clan head as he made his way back to his empty home.
"That was quite the speech," Sakura complimented lowly.
"Thanks."
Madara closed the door behind him with a sigh and made his way to his room. Despite now having the whole house to himself, Madara still spent the majority of his time in his room. His mother had passed in a bombing a few years ago and he couldn't bring himself to get used to the main floor being so empty. Izuna had been missing for years and Madara had given up any hope of him being alive or ever coming back. The realization that he truly had no family left finally hit Madara like a truck.
As Madara sat on his bed he felt a familiar sensation in his head. "Where are you going?"
"Nowhere." Sakura cupped Madara's face in her now materialized hands, forcing him to look at her and gazed at him for a few long moments. Not letting go of his head, she took a seat beside him and pulled him in to her chest, wrapping her arms around his neck and burying her face in his messy hair.
"What are you doing?" Madara murmured, making no attempt to escape Sakura's embrace.
"Hugging you," she responded in a matter-of-fact tone, taking a strand of hair between her fingers and twirling it.
Madara hesitantly wrapped his arms around her waist.
Sakura had been living in Madara's head for nearly ten years now and knew everything about him. Every little secret. Every emotion he concealed from the world. Hashirama was his best friend, but Sakura was something more.
Bit of a short chapter but oh well its a start
I'm currently working on 4 stories at the same time, which is more than ever.
1. this one
2. A banana fish alternate ending (for my own sanity) that's probably going to be between 3-5 chapters
3. "Daddy Issues", a kakasaku AU fic. Its been being pretty challenging for me to write so far but I'm feeling pretty good about it. I want to learn how to write more modern scene dark romances so this is my start (:
4. "Weak", a BNHA/MHA fic and so far my favourite fanfic I've ever written by far. I'm really pouring my heart into that one so please give it a shot if you like my writing!!!!
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this chapter and are willing to be very patient with me for updates haha
