"Seriously, just stop kidding around!" I exclaimed.

The aforementioned, loathsome jerk had been jabbing at my shoulder with a pen for over ten minutes. Professor Hill looked up in an amused manner, as if he still believed that there was unfinished business or something. There wasn't. For now, all I wanted was peace. It was repulsive to see Professor Hill even more, just knowing that he had broken the rules by doing something scandalous. I mean, sleeping with Sasha? The man had to be insane.

It turned out that Keisha hadn't exactly been discreet when she talked to me about the whole Charlotte, Hunter, and Sasha situation. Taj had somehow managed to find out about it since he overheard Charlotte and Keisha talking the other day in the hallways of his mansion at his parents' dinner gathering. Of course, the Evergreens just had to be one of the families that were business partners with the Mendozas.

Then, Maverick ended up finding out. He threatened that if I ever told anyone about what happened that I would face severe consequences. And...that was why a week later, Maverick had refused to cooperate in drama class again. Seeing the disappointed looks on Professor Langston and Henry Valentine's faces made me completely mortified. Unaffected, Maverick had insisted that he wasn't the type of person that wanted to try all the time.

Anyways, back to the current situation. Maverick wasn't stopping with that annoying, repetitive behavior.

"I'm not kidding, you know. I found something stupid that keeps coming to my window every night. I got paranoid, thinking you're playing a shitty prank on me to get back at me for revenge," he whispered in a hushed tone to my ear.

"I might be vengeful, but not to the point where I'd actually disturb someone from their sleep. That's the kind of psychotic thing that you'd probably do, considering that you thought of it in the first place," I shot back at him.

"Shut the fuck up. I've been hearing these weird scratching noises by my window every night since a week ago. I'm still not buying the fact that you have nothing to do with it," Maverick scowled.

"When everything goes wrong in your life, you always end up suspecting me as the number one prime suspect," I frowned at him. "Just...deal with that problem on your own!"

"As my maid, you have access to cleaning my room. Who knows? When I dozed off, you might have planted something near my room to freak me out." Maverick clenched his fists with utmost anger. "It's aggravating me and driving me insane!"

"It's quite amusing to get extra pay and watch the frequent lovers quarrel that you two have going on," Professor Hill commented in an amused tone. "Keep on arguing. My wife will think these pictures of the two of you are a sweet anniversary present."

I just gaped at him. My enemy trysts and hate-filled altercations with Maverick were now captured as an anniversary present? The professor was clearly delusional, and it was all because he specialized in Shakespearean love tragedies in his English Literature class.

"Cut the act, prof. You bring up your own love life way too many times during these ridiculous detention sessions, almost as if you're trying to convince yourself that what you have with her is stable and healthy. I doubt it, considering the way I've seen you act in the past." Maverick sounded unnerved with a cold tone. "You already know that...that classmate of mine is far from a lover to me."

"Whatever you say, Medici. I'm still not convinced," smirked Professor Hill.

"You have to fulfill your duties as my maid. Come by after detention is over," Maverick told me in a hushed tone.

"Fine. But only because I want to prove that I'm not the villain, unlike someone," I shot back. "What will I get out of this?"

"Are you fucking kidding me. You don't deserve to get anything out of this. I'm just trying to see if this is not a prank that you're trying to screw me over with," Maverick scowled.
