Chapter Fifteen

I thought that Maverick publishing my story with "good" intentions was already bad enough. But when I saw Keisha running up to me with her taser in her hand and another taser that she had planned on giving me, I had a feeling that something a lot worse had happened.

Of course, she wasn't crying. She never cried unless it was about someone else that meant a lot to her. This was a lot worse. I could sense it.

"I'm so disgusted. Hunter was bragging that Jamie and Austin helped record a threesome video with him and two girls at one of his parties last night. Without permission," Keisha shuddered. "Luckily, the girls' faces and his face weren't shown on the video, but still! There were other signs that made people think it was Haley and me when it wasn't me at all. Just because the girl had the same dark hair, tan, and handbag as me, it doesn't mean it was me. But Sasha seemed to convince people on freaking Gossip Con. Sasha was saying that Hunter commenting about Haley having a lavender perfume scent made it obvious, especially with her stature and cheerleading outfit on the floor of his room. Sasha also said something about Hunter's hairstyle, blond hair color, his voice, and the football jersey in his room makes it obvious that it was him. Not like that asshole denied it since he has been getting bragging rights."

"I'm not surprised that Hunter would be acting like a misogynistic jerk," I agreed, frowning. "But I'm more afraid about how Sasha will react. Remember the last time she broke up with Hunter for cheating on her with Charlotte Evergreen? Charlotte is not even able to show her face at SFCU anymore. I think she actually ended up transferring to a different college for her senior year. Either way, those accusations towards you are awful. I don't know why you have to be roped into a mess Hunter, Haley and some other random girl took part in. It had nothing to do with you."

"Those were rumors. But it wasn't anything else other than Sasha catching them kissing. Hunter's threesome video...people think that I was a part of it, along with Haley Jung. I'm still not surprised the girl was one of Sasha's bitchy cheerleading friends. Haley didn't even deny that it was her since she's been meaning to get onto Hunter's radar, even if it means being a part of a risqué scandal. She replaced Charlotte with Haley as her second beta minion, but I think Haley is about to be replaced with Ksenia Morozova. Ksenia left the In-Betweens to choose a newfound friendship with Sasha since Sasha offered to pay off her entire college tuition and invite her to the best parties with exclusive networks." Keisha appeared to be disappointed.

They already called me Maverick's whore, but there weren't any actual videos of people doing anything or people that weren't fully clothed. There hadn't been enough proof to the point where the rumors had died down. It was also thanks to Taj and Maverick's help that I also got the courage to use Keisha's account on Gossip Con to debunk those rumors as well.

Yeah, I had been surprised when Maverick decided to do something that actually benefited me without there being any underlying evil intentions or impulsive recklessness. I still couldn't find myself actually thinking that he was an actual ally, especially since he was benevolent one moment and formidable the next moment.

It would be better to describe him as a trustworthy acquaintance as of now, especially with me trying to protect my heart and the secret feelings I had for him. I was falling more and more deeply in love with Maverick as each day passed, which still had me nervous with trepidation.

"I don't understand why guys like Hunter have to be congratulated for hooking up with multiple girls and putting them down, while if girls even hook up with even one person, people call them a whore. Even if the rumors aren't true about the girl and there isn't enough proof, people still assume it happened," Keisha added with clenched fists. "I mean, there have been rumors for years that Hunter cheated on Sasha. And Sasha only stayed with him to put up this fake perfect act. I don't know why people just dismissed that as other people being jealous of the "golden couple". When there are rumors that are actually true, NO ONE seems to even believe them."
