Gusion, admitting

"My son." Gusion's father called.

But he couldn't quite believe his old man was actually looking at him while saying that.

It had been so long since he heard him call him that and it was stirring up something inside Gusion.

So this was how it felt like to be acknowledged.

The usual scowl his father usually did whenever he looked at him was nowhere to be seen. And instead, there was a proud glint in his eyes.

A few months ago, it could've meant the world to Gusion. To see his family look at him proudly; it would've made him feel satisfied with his life.

He did it. The Princess Silvanna acknowledged his braveness in front of the empire along with Granger and Tigreal and a few others.

Guinevere and Alucard could've been there, but Guinevere was still recovering and Alucard was nowhere to be found.

He had left the Land the moment the battle ended.

Miya said he momentarily came back to himself and told her to slave before he could turn again.

The empire finally got a hear of Gusion's name.

But he felt no accomplishment for it.

He just wanted to leave. Immediately.

"I always knew you were bound for great things." His father said as he patted his shoulder.

Gusion merely did a curt nod and left the crowd.

"Gusion." Granger called.

He stopped and looked at Granger over his shoulder.

"We're going to Castle Gorge right after this. Aren't you coming?"

He paused to think.

It had been two weeks since the battle and he hadn't seen Guinevere since.

He was just afraid of what he might feel the moment he sees her struggling to live.

"Come on, Paxley, it had been a couple of weeks! You, of all people, should check on her." Granger said in irritation.

"And why is that?" He asked, taken aback.

Granger frowned at him. "What do you mean why? You're the one who had been with her most of the time."

"Oh." He muttered guiltily.

He thought Granger, with his nosy attitude, had somehow caught up on him feeling a little queasy everytime he mentioned Guinevere.

"So are you coming or what?"

Gusion nodded. "I'll wait in the carriage."

"Why? Aren't you gonna enjoy the glory for a little while? This was what you wanted."

"Yes. Right before I found more important things to do than hear people's applauses." He answered and left for the Monastery of Light's carriage, ignoring Granger's response.

"Gusion." Another voice called him as he climbed up the carriage.

He sat on one of its benches and saw his brother Vermilion.

"Aren't you coming home? Father had prepared a feast for you."

Gusion scoffed. "Now he's prepared a feast? Right after he casted me out so easily?"

"He gave you a choice, Gusion. He didn't cast you out."

"Right." He muttered, sarcasm dripping in his voice.
