when you believed in one thing but...
"A weird looking human skeleton?" I asked her with my eyebrows slightly furrowed as I looked at the perfectly white skeleton frame. It was so white, for a second, I thought it was fake. She slowly lifted her head up and gave me a very strange look. "It is not a human skeleton." She said as her voice shook so violently. I was more scared of Kelly than the weird skeleton. She was speaking like a maniac. I knew what she meant by not a human skeleton but I still asked her with a hint of sarcasm in my voice, "Which animal's skeleton is this?" My thought process was so straightforward. The first word that popped up in my head was alien. ALIEN. The papers I signed nowhere showed the word aliens. But 'supernatural' was mentioned.
"You cannot back out now, dear. You've already signed the documents." I assured her that I would not back out and that I was made for such stuff. The fact that there no backing out did not really bother me. "There is a huge story for this that dates back more than a hundred years." She said. "Well, I'm all years for a good story." I said. "I'm very eager to share it, but you are not the only person, Claire. There are four more members who are going to join along with you and two scientists, a geologist and so many others. We have another meeting tomorrow about which I was going to tell you later. Today, I only called you here to see how people react to the skeleton. This means, tomorrow is your actual official meeting where you get to meet everyone. You should just stand out of the gate and a person will guide you in your meeting room which is obviously not this room." She explained.
I immediately asked her a dumb question without another thought "Does that mean no one's gonna interrupt my dramatic entrance?" She laughed at me for a second and nodded her head no. I said 'Okay' in a bit of an embarrassed tone. "But why so early?" I asked her. "We have so much to do tomorrow and it is only right to start it all early. You will first be meeting your four other team members who are going to report here at six AM itself. They need their dose of the skeleton too." She replied. I again replied with an 'Okay' and stared at her as she stared at the alien skeleton. It looked very much like a human skeleton but still did not match. It's skull was more narrow, long and a bit different. It had a ribcage which was longer than that of humans. Its arms were also long. Overall, it was long, narrow, weird and whiter than anything I have ever seen.
"Well, that's all for this meeting. I will be seeing you tomorrow at six-thirty in the morning." She said. I nodded my head as I followed her towards the door. She led me out through the same entrance and we walked till the entrance gate. She smiled at me and said good-bye. As I got back in my car, it was already ten PM. I reached home, ate some leftover pizza for dinner and fell asleep at eleven thirty PM. When I signed those papers, I was signing up for a personal hell hole not only for me, but for the whole world. I was signing up for a self destructive and world destructive project!
