spencer satseparately from the rest of the BAU in the waiting room of the local hospital. He was trying to stop his leg from shaking but it wouldn't; the rest of the team were either sitting anxiously or pacing the room. The two women of the team were sat trying to comfort each other, Rossi was sat next to the two looking towards the door waiting for a doctor to walk through. Hotch was pacing the length of the chairs; he felt so helpless - he always knew how to support his team but situations like this, he never knew how.
"Hey Kid." Morgan placed his hand on Spencer's shoulder comfortingly. "She's going to be okay."
"It's not fair." Spencer muttered, not looking up from the ground.
"I know but-"
"No Morgan. It's not fair that this is how she has to die!"
"Reid she's not going to die-"
"After everything she went through with that son of a bitch, Hall. Everything he put her through with Leo and the kids, one bullet from one deranged bastard kills her! It's not damn fair, it's not damn fair." Spencer shouted, the rest of the team could only watch and listen.
"Spencer, I get it - we get it," Morgan gestured to the four others listening intently, "But we've got Lawrence and he is not going to be looking outside of the same four walls for a very long time. Abby will make it through this." He smiled reassuringly.
"She's the strongest out of all of us." Garcia smiled through her tears.
"The woman was a soldier for three years." JJ agreed.
"I reckon I could take her." Rossi joked, the rest of the team, even Spencer, laughed.
"And do yourself a favour, Man. When you next see her, ask her out for a damn cup of coffee."
Mutters of agreement came from the others, even Hotch nodded his head whilst smirking.
"But what about Leo, it's so soon for her. I don't want to interrupt that healing process for her." Spencer's leg was shaking once more, however, it was now anxiety over something he was not in the least bit familiar with.
"Spence," JJ started gently, "she's a smart girl, she'll know what feels right and what doesn't. Be selfish for once, put your feelings first."
A look of realisation flashed across the doctors face as he looked over at his boss.
"T-this doesn't mean I love her or anything, Hotch! Like, we're uh we're not d-dating or, or anything like that. We're friends. Just friends going out for coffee. If she even says yes because she might not say yes. We're not breaking any rules; you know the two agents can't date in the same field. It's just a date. NO! Not a date 'date' just a date, a coffee date." Spencer spluttered out bright red.
