abby and Spencer stood beside their black SUV, around the corner from the address of the nine-one-one call. A young woman walked over to them; she looked around the same age as Abby and she was dressed in a casual pant-suit, minus the jacket.

She shook Abby's hand and Spencer waved politely at her. "Hi, I'm Charlotte Johnson. I work with the Washington State police as a child protection officer. Has anyone told you what the plan is?"

"I'm SSA Abigial Laurens, call me Abby though please, and this is Doctor Spencer Reid. And no, we drove straight here from the airport."

"Okay, the long and short of it is; my role as a child protection officer shall not change but I do not work for the PD as far as any of us are concerned. You two - you will be apart of child protective services who are here for a standard welfare check. Your names are just your real names but we're going to try not to use them unless asked or is absolutely necessary to communicate. As long as your comfortable with that?"

Abby and Spencer nodded.

"The two officers behind us will be in constant radio contact as will the rest of your team. They'll hear us at all times but, for obvious reasons, we can't have earpieces." She handed them both a mic which when attached to their wrists looked like a watch.

Abby felt her mind wander back to the conversation with Lawrence where he told her she was going into Hall's trap - except they didn't know that yet.

Spencer saw the fear creep over her face and he laced his hand in hers, giving it a reassuring squeeze. Abby felt her heart rate slow down and she smiled lovingly up at him, gripping his hand tightly.

"As far as we are aware no one in the house knows the nine-one-one call was made, however, we are unsure if there is actually any threat in this house. There have been a number of emergency calls made from this address in the past weeks so we believe that at the very least there will be evidence of abuse. And to be completely honest the wording of the phone call it just, it terrified us. 'There's a monster under my bed'. The hell could that even mean?" Johnson asked quickly.

"Do we know how many children are in the home?" Spencer asked, still holding Abby's hand.

"Five. The reasons they're there range from untimely deaths of both parents to being taken away from their parents because of heavy drug use or physical and/or sexual abuse. When we go in we assess the situation and see if we can find the child who made the call, they are our priority."

Abby and Spencer nodded in understanding, finally letting go of the other.

"We'll let you lead the way. You're in control." Abby said as they began to walk to the house.
