"I don't really mind his brand of.....eccentricity", I told Blaine. "Besides I'd rather you guys be crazy and fun then uptight snobs." Another boy came behind Jeff and smirked. He had dark brown hair and was only about an inch taller than Blaine.

"See you say that now but you haven't heard Jeff yodeling in the shower." All the other boys burst out in laughter at his remark. "Niiiiiicccck, you pinky swore you wouldn't tell anyone!" Jeff said, face beet red. "Oh come on, you're not that bad at it anyway", Nick joked. Jeff looked even more fake angry.

There seemed to be some serious tension between the two. "Are they"- Blaine cut me off, "No they aren't dating but they're both gay. Nick and Jeff have been inseparable since seventh grade and we all know they are oblivious to their feelings. But I wouldn't bring it up to either of them." I nodded as if I understood. I still had a ton to learn about these people.

"How about we all go around and say some things about us so Kurt can learn who we are." Blaine's voice rose above the quiet murmurs and all the boys seemed to comply immediately. They all formed a circle and sat cross-legged on the floor. "You can start by introducing yourself if you want Kurt."

I smiled and took a deep inhale. "Well my name is Kurt Elizabeth Hummel, and I just transferred here from McKinley High in Lima. Uh, I'm gay if you couldn't tell by the broach and satchel." The boys all sat and smiled understandingly. "I love broadway, lady Gaga, and fashion it's like my entire personality. And I really want to be a part of the Warblers." I finished and let out a breath I didn't know I was holding in.

"I'll go next", Blaine spoke up, "Kurt kinda knows me but I'll share some other information. Well for starters my full name is Blaine Devon Anderson. I came to Dalton in my freshman year from Westerville Middle School. Most people make fun of my hair but what can I say, I need to contain the fly-aways. I love Katy Perry and The Beatles. My favorite movies are Star Wars and Harry Potter. And I guess my dream job would be performing to sold out crowds and having piano concerts. And being in the Warblers is what I love right now." All the other guys looked as if they had heard this tangent about a million times before.

"Oooh I'll go next!" Jeff raised his hand and bounced up and down. "Jeff we're going in a circle you would be next anyway", Blaine explained to the hyper blonde. "Right, I'm Jeff Sterling as you all know. I have 5 sisters which might have something to do with my sexuality. I love holidays and birthdays so expect lots of parties from me, Kurt. My favorite artists are probably Queen and Ross Lynch, people say I look like his brother but I don't see it. And Nick here is my bestest friend." He linked his arm with the boy to his right possessively.

"That carries it on to me I guess", Nick chuckled. "Hi, I'm Nick Duval, Jeff's best friend if that wasn't already apparent. I have a twin sister Ellie, she goes to Crawford Country Day. I love scary movies and alternative punk music, not much of a top 40's guy. I play the electric guitar in my free time, and sometimes I write songs. That's pretty much it.

The rest of the boys went around the circle, talking about what they liked and who they were. Kurt now knew that Trent sang opera in his spare time, David took banjo lessons, Wes was studying to be a lawyer. That probably explained why he carried around his gavel everywhere. Hunter had an emotional attachment to his cat Mr. Puss. It was clear the others didn't like the feline based on their scowls and looks of dismay. Thad was fluent in Spanish but only used it to keep secrets or cuss people out behind their backs. It certainly was a fascinating group of teens.

The last boy to go was sitting to the left of Kurt. He didn't particularly look as though he wanted to share what he was about. He would bite his nails or stare at the ground instead of being engaged. He had chestnut brown hair like Kurt's with piercing green eyes. He was at least six feet tall and was quite slender. Everyone turned their heads to him when the second to last boy was finished. He took a shaky breath and blinked as if waiting for the floor to swallow him up.

"I'm Sebastian Smythe. I play the piano and flute but I'm probably not very good at either. I lived in France for three years with my dad and sister but it wasn't exactly a pleasant experience. He kicked me out for kissing a boy when I was 15 so I fled here. Now I stay with my grandparents but they're super strict. I don't watch tv or movies and I don't really listen to modern music. And yeah. Just same old boring me." Complete silence followed his response.

Blaine seemed to notice this and spoke up to fill the awkward lack of discussion. "Well that was really good guys, I think Kurt now knows a lot more about us and hopefully it'll help when he joins the Warblers. We can end the meeting here." I was relieved to go get some rest.

All the boys got up to leave, immediately conversing and running around, all except Sebastian. He just sighed and put his hands in his pant pockets on the way back to the dorms. I couldn't help but notice how he refused to make eye contact with anybody else.

"Is that Sebastian kid alright?", I questioned Blaine as we trekked up the stairs to our room. Blaine peered around to be sure no one was listening and whispered back to me. "We don't really know a lot about him. We think something awful went down when he got kicked out. He almost never speaks but his singing and dancing skills are impeccable. Not many people have tried talking to him, he'll most likely just push them away."

I knew he had a tough shell . Everyone has something important to say, including Sebastian. I just had to crack him.

Challenge excepted.

I'm so grateful that people are reading this story! I got my first votes today and 9 more reads than yesterday. I was having a hard day of online school and it made it so much better. I'm excited to elaborate on Sebastian's backstory because I've always felt he was so much more than the writers gave us. Don't forget to comment your thoughts and suggestions cause I'd love to hear them! And my social media handles for tiktok, insta, and snapchat are all in the author's note in chapter 1 of the story. Hope to see you soon.

Your fellow gleek,
Lindsay 💕
