A bullet grazed his arm, ripping through the sleeve of his gray sweatshirt.
Haechan looked down at the thin line of blood running from the wound. Instead of reacting to the pain, he let out a low chuckle.
"You really want to play, huh?"
His deep, hoarse voice made the two men exchange a nervous glance.
Haechan tilted his head from side to side, cracking his neck as he rolled his shoulders. He was getting tired of this.
"I told you to stop messing with me, didn't I?"
His hand slipped into his back pocket and closed around the knife hidden inside.
The moment the man raised his gun again, Haechan moved. He lunged forward and drove the knife straight into the man's chest.
Before the second one could react, Haechan was already in front of him. His fist slammed into the man's jaw.
The man stumbled backward, but Haechan followed without giving him a chance to recover. He kept hitting him until they both went down, the man's face quickly becoming a bloody mess.
Haechan finally stopped. He pulled the knife from the first man's chest and straightened himself, breathing steadily despite the rush of adrenaline.
Then he heard footsteps. Several pairs of them.
They came rushing down the hallway before stopping behind him.
"Haechan!"
Jeno looked around at the two unconscious men and let out a whistle.
"You knocked them out, man. What the hell did they do?"
Haechan didn't answer immediately.
He ran a hand through his messy brown hair, the green highlights at the ends brushing against his nape. He had been meaning to cut it for months, but he couldn't be bothered.
"Just take care of the bodies, Jeno."
He wiped the blood from his knife using the top of his sweatshirt before folding it and slipping it back into his pocket.
Jeno sighed. He had barely recovered from his own training session when Haechan had called them over.
"Jaem, help me out?"
Jaemin clicked his tongue. "Why am I always the one helping you?"
"Because you're strong."
"That's not a compliment."
Without a choice, Jaemin crouched beside one of the men and grabbed him without another complaint. With ease, he swung the body over his shoulder and stood.
Haechan leaned against the wall and pulled out a cigarette. He lit the end and took a slow drag. The cool mint flavor settled in his throat, calming some of the restless energy still crawling through his body.
Jeno and Jaemin carried the bodies away. A few minutes later, they returned and walked straight past Haechan.
He watched them disappear down the hallway before smirking.
