Chapter 4: The Hunter Exam (Part 2)

"Killua?!!!" Kiyoto exclaimed.

"Yo-yo?! Why are you here?! And who's that?!" The young Zoldyck asked.

"Uhh, I was bored, and this my girlfriend, Machi!"

"Yo-yo?" Machi asked, trying hard not to laugh at the nickname.

"That's his nickname. Hmm... I got it!"

The two lovers looked curiously at the kid.

"Your nickname is gonna be pinky!"

"What?!!"

"Pfffft-HAHAHAHAHA!!!" Kiyoto started laughing, and Machi buried her face in his shoulder in embarrassment.

"We don't discuss this. Ever." She said, still muffling her voice in his shoulder.

"Maybe, maybe not. Anyway, we should probably get up now. There's a guy upfront who's addressing everyone. I think it's important."

"Fine..."

The three walked up to the crowd, and killua split off from the group. Kiyoto and Machi met up with Illumi and Hisoka, who were at the front of the pack. Just by looking at the tag numbers, Kiyoto deduced that there was more than 300 participants in the exam.

"Your task is to follow me until the end of the tunnel. Anyone who fails this task fails the exam." There was a skinny man with a mustache who was clearly a hunter, and who was administering this portion of it.

"Sounds easy enough..." Kiyoto said quietly. Machi chuckled and hopped onto his back.

"Let's see how easy this is." She told him.

"Hey! What are you... *sigh* fine whatever..."

"The rules never said I couldn't do this."

Kiyoto deadpanned as the run started. The task itself was extremely easy. From basically birth, Kiyoto was put through hell to be unstoppable, so this was absolutely nothing for him, even with his girlfriend on his back. There was just one little problem.

It was really, really boring.

The run itself lasted for hours and hours, and it wasn't as if there was any scenery or anything. It was just a green wall for miles. Eventually, something did come up, but it was just a staircase. During the run, Kiyoto spotted Killua in front with another kid that seemed to be his age.

"Hey Machi, look. Killua's made a friend... that's cool..." Kiyoto was close to falling asleep, but happened to see his brother up ahead. Machi, who already had gotten off of his back and started running, saw where he was pointing and smiled.

"They seem like they're enjoying themselves. Why are you so bored anyway?If we were cuddling for hours you would be having a blast."

"Yeah... but I can't cuddle with you right now..."

"Want me to jump back on you?"

"Yes please..."

Machi rode on top of him for the small remainder of the run. It just so happened that the end of it was only about 15 minutes away. There was a large open door at the end of the tunnel, and when they went through it, they saw a large jungle type biome, with lot's of mist surrounding the vegetation.

"*Sigh* Finally... that was so horrible!"

"Um... you had your guitar hanging in front of you while I was on your back, so you could've been practicing..." She sheepishly pointed out.

"..."

"You chose to tell me this now...?" Kiyoto sat against a wall and started crying when he realized he missed hours of potential practice time. Eventually, more people showed up and filled the waiting area for the next part of the exam. When Hisoka and Illumi came up and saw Kiyoto bawling his eyes out, they looked at Machi, hoping for an explanation.
