Awkward

I didn't know what to do, so I called Joy and Kelsey.

Kelsey: Hello?
Joy: Do you know what time is it?

It was 2 a.m. and I woke them both up.

Abigail: I'm so sorry. We can talk tomorrow.

Kelsey: I'm sure it's important if you're calling this late. What's up?
Joy: Did that guy broke up with you?
Abigail: No. It's nothing. I'm fine, I just wanted to talk to you.
Joy: Aby. Don't make us go there and drag the information out of you.
Abigail: My mom and Travis's dad are engaged.
Kelsey: What? You'll be brother and sister?
Abigail: Yeah, and we'll live together.

This was the end. I started crying.

Joy: No, no. Don't cry. You'll find someone else.
Abigail: I don't want someone else!
Joy: I'm sure your parents will let you two go out.
Abigail: They don't know. And we can't tell them.
Kelsey: I'm so sorry. How can we help?
Abigail: You can't. I just needed to tell someone.

At that moment, my mom burst into the room,
"Honey? What's wrong?
Abigail: Nothing. It's just... Kelsey's dog died.
Molly: Oh, I'm so sorry. She'll get a new one.
Abigail: She's so sad and I can't look at her so sad.

At that moment, I hung up on Joy and Kelsey. They should sleep anyway.

Abigail: Did Travis come back?
Molly: No, not yet. But I'm sure he will.
Abigail: I'll go to sleep now.
Molly: See you tomorrow, sweetie.
Abigail: See you mom.

She looked so happy when she was with Paul. I couldn't sleep, so I went to look for Travis. He can't be far away. And I knew where to look for him. He was probably on the abandoned building.

When I got off the train, I started walking toward the building. Thank God the building was visible, otherwise I would be lost. After a few minutes of walking, I saw Curtis, Leo, Liam, Bella, and Kylie hanging on the side of one of the buildings. Suddenly, Bella started walking toward me, so I speeded my walking up.

Bella: Abigail! Abigail!
Abigail: Yeah?
Bella: Look, this might be the alcohol talking for me, but I need to tell you something.
Abigail: Okay.
Bella: I know we didn't start well, but when I saw you with Travis, I thought you're like... You know...

I didn't know, but I didn't want to interup her.

Bella: The point is, I know Travis for a really long time. And he has never been so happy. He changed and maybe you don't know, but I think he likes you a lot. Please don't leave him.
Abigail: I would never...
Bella: Everyone says that. I saw him suffering over the girl once, and I don't want to see that again. Please don't hurt him.
Abigail: That's the last I would want.
Bella: Okay. Thanks. Want some beer?
Abigail: Yeah, give me one.

With a half-empty can of beer, I continued walking toward the building. When I climbed the ladders, I saw I was right- he was there. Sitting on the edge.
I sat down next to him and took a sip of beer.

Travis: Since when you drink?
Abigail: Wrong company, I guess.

He smiled.

Abigail: Are you okay?
Travis: No.
Abigail: I know this will be real chaos, but we'll figure everything out.

He was looking at me with his dark eyes. It was like he's staring at my soul.

Travis: We won't. We'll live together now. We'll have to be like every other brother and sister. And they don't do what we do.
Abigail: I know, but maybe we can hide it...
Travis: We'll all live together. We won't hide it. We'll do what they want us to- being brother and sister.
Abigail: Good you made the decision alone
Travis: What do you suggest?

Abigail: I don't know. Anything but this.
Travis: There's nothing else we can do.
Abigail: You thought of that in the last few hours. I'm sure we can...
Tarvis: I'm thinking about that for a week.
Abigail: You knew?
Travis: When our parents came home after "all night dinner" I knew it.
Abigail: And you didn't tell me?
Travis: Why would I? It was enough that I was worried in Miami. The only thing I needed was you worrying here.
Abigail: You should have told me. We would figure something out.

He smiled.

Travis: There's nothing to figure out.
Abigail: Then, I guess this is the last time we are together. Like really together.
Travis: I guess so.

The can was empty. I guess I drank everything. Great. This is great. Travis is now my brother, Jack is probably mad at me, my mom thinks I'm missing and Joy and Kelsey are so far away from here.

Travis: You know, it wasn't like this all the time. My dad used to make smart decisions too.
Abigail: What happened?
Travis: He just left. One day he just packed his suitcases and he left.
Abigail: Why didn't you stay with your mom?
Travis: I have a little sister Samantha. She wanted to stay with mom, so I left with dad. It was the stupidest thing he ever did and I will never forgive him. And now he's remarrying again. What should I do? Forget my mom and pretend your mom is my mom?
Abigail: No. Of course not. You can't do that.

This was way harder for him than I thought and I couldn't do anything. I got closer to him and hugged him.

Travis: A hug won't help.
Abigail: You don't know that.

We were silent. Looking at the city lights below us. The city was beautiful.

Travis: I can't believe this is happening.
Abigail: Start to believe.
Travis: It's so unfair...
Abigail: Told you, perfect love doesn't exist.
Travis: You were right.
Abigail: Did you just told me I'm right?
Travis: Yes. I didn't think it was possible either.
Abigail: Jerk...
Travis: What? I didn't hear that right.

At that moment, I kissed him.

Abigail: There was nothing for you to hear.

And I kissed him again. If this is the last time we'll be alone, I want to kiss him. A lot.
After the whole night out, we went to my house. Our parents were there.

Paul: Oh, thank God. I was starting to worry.
Molly: I made us breakfast.

Having breakfast with Travis was awkward and weird. The four of us were never together for a long time. My mom and Paul were in the kitchen, while Travis and I went to the living room. Neither of us could eat right now.
