Chapter 6

Someone was following me
Addison POV

I groan loudly and throw my phone next to me. I look over at Dixie who was busy sorting out her room.
"I'm bored" I say and Dixie laughs softly. She turns around and looks at me. Her eyes meet mine and my heart starts to race. She giggles as I look away blushing. She walks towards me and crawls across the bed until she positions herself on my lap.
"Dixie what are you doing?" I say looking her up and down.

"You've never been kissed right?" I blush even more and look away from her.
"Dixie I'm being serious what are you doing?" I say and she smiles and puts her hands on my face which makes me look at her again.
"What if I was your first kiss?" She asks and I swallow hard.
"Dixie...I..." I stutter out and she smiles.
"Come on it's just one kiss?" She says and I bite my bottom lip.

She leans in and kisses me on my forehead before moving her lips towards mine but stops and hovers over them.
"This is wrong" I say.
"Then why does it feel right?" She says and my heart beats even faster. I move a little forward and my lips meet hers. They were so soft and inviting. I pull away a moment later and we look at each other before crashing our lips against each other's again.

I run my hands through her hair as the kiss deepens. We pull away a moment later and look into each other eyes.
"Sorry" I say and Dixie shakes her head.
"Don't be sorry, I liked it" she says which surprises me.
"You liked it?" I say and Dixie blushes.
"Yeah, did you not like it?" I could hear a hint of disappointment in her voice. I grab her face in my hands.

"No no no, I liked it" I say and she smiles.
"so what does this mean?" I ask and Dixie sighs.
"I don't know but I mean do...do you want to try?" She says and I blush.
"I mean yeah but what about Griffin?" I ask and Dixie shakes her head.
"He doesn't have to know, it can be our little secret" she says.
"I mean I guess it wouldn't hurt to try" I say and Dixie's smile grows.

"So can I kiss you again?" She says and I laugh softly.
"Always" I say and she kisses me again and we fall back onto the bed giggling.

"It was just suppose to be one simple kiss but it turned into something so much more" I say to Mae as we walk through the grocery store.
"So wait you guys started a secret relationship?" She ask while grabbing some cereal and putting it into the cart.
"Yeah" I say and we start walking again.
"Why did you take me shopping with you again?" I say and Mae laughs softly.

"You said you needed a distraction?" She says and I look at her.
"Yeah but this is not what I had in mind" she laughs and I smile.
"That's the first time I've seen you smile" she says and I look away.
"Yeah well there hasn't been that many things to smile about" I say and look down at my feet.

"Come on kid, I just need a few more things and then I'll take you to the police station" she says and I stop walking. She goes past me and I stare at the back of her head confused.
"Why are you taking me to the police station, you've already questioned me?" I say and catch up with her.
"I want you to help with the investigation" she says.
"What seriously?" I say and Mae smiles.
"Of course, she's your lover and anyway I'd really appreciate your help" she says and I smile slightly.
"You guys we're lovers right?" She asks and I sigh.

"Yeah we were, we did all those romantic things we even went on a date out of town" I say and Mae smiles.
"Did anyone know about you guys?" She says and I think about it.
"No I don't think so I mean we were really careful" she nods her head and grabs the last few things of groceries.
"Addy?" She says and I look at her.

"The world needs to know about you guys" I sigh. I knew she was going to say it.
"I don't know if I'm ready" I say and Mae nods her head.
"Look it will help the case but if you aren't ready I won't say a word about it, but when you are just give me the call and I'll do it" she says and I nod my head.
"Thanks Mae" she smiles. My phone starts ringing and I fish it out my pocket. The screen reads Bryce. I press accept and bring it to my ear.

"Hi Bryce" I say as Mae and I walk to the shopping tills.
"Hey Addison, I just wanted to see how you were?" He asks and I sigh.
"As good as I'll ever be, how are you?" I ask.
"I'm okay...I just wanted to know if you wanted to come to my place tonight?" He asks and I look at Mae who was busy paying for her stuff. Might as well hang out with Bryce.
"Sure Bryce" I say.
"Great, I'll see you tonight!" He says excitedly and I smile.

"See you tonight" I say and end the call. Mae looks at me and smiles.
"Let's go" she says and we both walk out the shops.

Mae POV

"What are you doing?" I hear John say and I turn around and look at him.
"I'm working" I say and turn back around to look at my crime board.
"Why are you still working on the D'amelios case?" He asks and I roll my eyes.
"Because it's not solved" I say and grab my journal to write down some notes.
"What do you mean it's not solved, we got him?" I shut my journal closed and look at John with a death glare.

"No you didn't, you found some piece of evidence against Mr. Johnson and you slapped some cuffs on him without my permission may I add and you haven't even cleared the evidence to prove that Mr. Johnson did it" I say and he clenches his jaw.
"You're talking bullshit Mae I had the evidence cleared and I didn't know that I had to ask your permission?" He says and I slowly walk around my desk and stop in front of him.

"I am in a higher position then you John, what I say goes. Captain put me in charge of this case because he knows I catch the killer John. I always catch the killer that's why I'm second in command" I say standing tall and confident.
"You always break the rules!" He spits out and I roll my eyes.
"I might break a few rules but I don't slap cuffs on someone that's innocent John!" I shout and he glares at me.

"You're hiding something about Addison!" He shouts at me and I take a big breath in and out.
"What I'm doing is no concern to you. I'm protecting her privacy, until she wants me to put the information in the case then I will not speak a word of it" I say and he shakes his head.
"I'm speaking to captain about you" I laugh.
"Go ahead John, go look like an idiot to captain" I say and he glares at me. There was a knock on my door and we both look at the door and I see Julia holding a bag of food. She looks at me and then John.

"Am I interrupting?" She asks and I shake my head.
"No come in" she smiles at me and walks into my office. I look back at John.
"Get the fuck out of my office" I say and he glares at me before leaving and slamming the door shut. I roll my eyes at his child behavior. I look back at Julia who raises one eyebrow.
"Don't worry about it Julia, Johns just being an asshole" I say and she smiles at me.
"He's always an asshole" she jokes and I give her a small smile.

"Hey what's the matter?" She says and comes closer to me.
"Nothing, John just put an innocent man behind bars and charged him for the murder of Dixie" I say and she frowns.
"I'm sorry Mae, you must be so stressed" I nod my head.
"Yeah I am but it's fine nothing I can't handle" she shakes her head and kisses my cheek.
"You can find the killer, I believe in you" she says and I look at her.

"Thank you" I say and smile.
"Now come on let's get some food in you" she says and I laugh and start to eat some food.

Addison POV

I start running quickly my heart was pounding painfully against my chest and the tears were streaming down my face. Don't let them catch you. I repeat to myself as I run faster all the way to the one place I know I'll be safe. I run up to Mae's door and I slam my fist on the door.
"MAE PLEASE OPEN THE DOOR, PLEASE!" I shout and I look behind me while still knocking on the door.

The door opens a moment later and I see a very confused Mae standing there.
"Addison?" She asks and I rush into her arms and hug her tight. She was a little taken aback as I sob into her shoulder. She hugs me tight.
"What's the matter Addison?" She asks and I let it another sob.
"Some...someone was following me" I say and she pulls away from me to look at my face.
"What's going on?" I hear another women say and I look over Maes shoulder to see a very pretty girl looking us with sleepy eyes.

"It's going to be okay Addison" Mae says stroking my cheek with her thumb.
"Hold her for a moment Julia" Mae says and the girl, Julia nods her head. I walk to Julia and she wraps her arm around my shoulder and pulls me closer to her. I wrap my arms around her waist. She wasn't that much taller then me not like Mae who was quite tall. Mae walks outside and looks around as I watch her still shaking from fear.

There was a rattle in the bush and before I knew it Mae was running down the street.
