Maria's Point of View

On their way to the ice skating ring, Maria got to know Natalie a little bit more. Natalie owns her own modeling industry, the Limelight Modelling Company. She is single, which Maria can not figure out why. Natalie had the inner and outer beauty, and any guy will be lucky to have her.

They were riding in a fancy limousine. Marcus was keeping Amelia occupied by a play mini games with her like I-Spy. Maria and Natalie were having a conversation of their own.

"So, Maria," Natalie asked, "Tell me about yourself?"

"What's there to tell? I am a single parent, jobless, and homeless," Maria replied, "if DHR finds out about me not providing for my daughter, then they are going to take her away. I can't let that happen."

"It won't," Natalie comforted Maria, "My brother and I will do everything in our power to not let that happen."

"Thank you so much," Maria gratefully said.

"You're welcome," Natalie told Maria.

The limousine pulled up to The Wonderful World of Ice. When they got out, Amelia gasped at how beautiful it looked. Marcus and Natalie led Maria and Amelia inside of the skating park. At the gate, Marcus paid for everyone to get in. They all picked out their size in ice skates, and they were all ready to skate.

"Mommy, Can I skate with Natalie?" Amelia said Maria.

"Sure, sweetie. Just be careful." Maria answered.

Amelia and Natalie went on the ice first. Maria thought that it was good to see Amelia happy and full of life. Natalie had picked Amelia up and started to go in circles with her. Amelia just laughed and giggled like there's no tomorrow.

"You do have a beautiful daughter," Marcus said.

"I know," Maria replied," I just wish that her father wasn't her biological dad."

"What happened between you two, anyway?" Marcus curiously asked.

Maria was speechless at first. She didn't know whether to tell what went on or not. She didn't want Marcus to judge her in any way, especially, after the dream she had of him. People were already judging her, but she knew that he would keep asking if she don't tell him.

"Caleb, Amelia dad, use to be a nice guy. He used to have a nice job as a Sheriff for the police department. One night there was a robbery at the grocery store. The robber had the clerk at gunpoint. Caleb tried to reason with the robber, but the robber didn't even want to listen to Caleb and the police force. When Caleb pulled the trigger on his gun, everything change. He drunk alcohol every day and night. When Amelia was just a few months old, Caleb try to deny that Amelia was not his," Maria remembering everything that Caleb put her through, "I had to let Caleb do a paternity test done on Amelia, even though I did not have any affair. When the test came back saying he was the father, his drinking got even worst. Later in our relationship, Caleb was abusing me. If anything be out of order, he would beat me with anything he can get his hands on. I walked in on him snorting cocaine, then one thing just led to another. Caleb quit his job and started to sell drugs on the streets. He has been in jail more than five time for getting caught with drugs on him..I did not want my only child to be around that mess, so when Amelia turned three, I had enough Caleb hitting and beating me, so I got a job and found a place for me and my daughter to live.

"I am so sorry," Marcus said feeling sympathy for Maria, "No woman should have to go through that."

"I know," Maria replied looking on the brighter side of things, "the past is the past. What I went through in my life, made me the person that I am now. Anyways, are you ready to show me how to skate because I have no clue."
