(Kamani and Syd in the media)

Sydnei

"Before I overreact, explain what just happened." Kamani sat at the end of the bed while I stood near the doorway.

I cannot believe that bitch snuck into our house. I definitely need to lay these hands on her before this shit gets out of hand.

"She's my old neighbor. I knew her but we never really talked. When I used to go to mommy's house, she'd speak." I slowly explained watching Mani's facial expression. It remained calm, at first.

"..And then the day of the BBQ, she showed up. We started chatting it up. I went to make me a plate and went to the back to eat while she talked to Nana. Then she popped up in the backyard with me--"

"So, y'all were alone away from everyone else?" Kamani finally looked up at me with anger in her eyes.

I looked down and bit on my lip. I was so scared at this point.

"Answer me." Kamani yelled, startling me.

"Y-Yea." She stood up and ran her fingers through her long straight hair. I felt my eyes water up as I watched her frustration build.

"We were um.. We were talking and then she kissed me." Kamani stopped pacing and stared at me.

She was looking at me like she wanted to punch me in the face. I knew she wouldn't but that's how intensifying her stare was.

"And you let her?"

"No! I pushed her away and told her that I was with you! Then she came on to me at school saying I'd do better without you. All that bullshit, babe. I'm so sorry I didn't tell you but--"

"Wait. Slow it down. She came on to you in public?" Kamani's fist balled up and she distanced herself from me. I blinked a few times because my eyesight was getting too blurry.

"Baby, she's trying to break us up. And I don't want that. She's a lunatic. You seen that!" I cried out and she sat back down on the bed.

"So you telling me that some chick pops out of the blue, makes not one but a couple passes at you and you now just telling me?"

Yup, sounds about right. I should've just told her at the BBQ about Yasmin. The shit could've been resolved now.

"I didn't know how to tell you." I whispered walking up to her.

"What the fuck, Sydnei. You should've just told me! What do you mean? I just proposed to you for crying out loud." Kamani looked up at me. Her face softened a little.

"I know. But I didn't want to mess things up. You probably wouldn't have even proposed to me if I had told you a few weeks ago."

Kamani grabbed my face and made me look up at her.

"You really think I'd hurt this pretty woman I'm looking at just because she was honest with me?" I didn't say anything.

"I'm sorry. I know I screwed up but I promise there's nothing going--" I was rambling again.
