Sydnei

7 months later..

"I love you too. Okay, see you when I get off." I kissed my wife goodbye through the phone and went back to work.

I was so ready to get off and go home to Kamani. She was home early and I was excited. I planned to take her out, it's been a while since we last enjoyed each other's company outside of the house. My back was killing me and my feet were swelling more and more by the second but I wasn't going to let this pregnancy win forever.

"Ohh baby..can you stop kicking mommy for a few more hours? Please, I know you're in there. I feel you." I smiled as I rubbed my round belly. Kaylyn was growing so fast. Sheesh.

"Hey." There was a knock on the door. My manager, Mrs. Franklin, walked in.

"Go home. I told you to rest big mama, come on. I dont want you back here anytime before you deliver." I smiled, giggling.

"I just thought that I'd finish up-" Mrs. Franklin cut me off.

"No excuses. I'll have Deana take care of things while you're away. You have nothing to worry about." she reassured. I smiled and gave her a big hug.

"Thank you." she smiled at me. I felt Kaylyn kick again and sighed.

"I'll talk to you later." I grabbed my purse and waddled out of the office.

Walking to the car, I thought about groceries. I needed to get them. Kamani wouldn't be very fond of it but it had to be done. I smiled thinking of how supportive she is. This whole pregnancy thing has it's ups and downs and with Kamani, I know that I can get through this.

I inhaled then exhaled. Reaching into my purse, I found my prenatal vitamins and took them before I drove off.

My phone started to ring but it would have to wait. I never talk and drive. It is dangerously distractive. Whoever it was calling would have to wait.

I made it to the grocery store and I called Sammy back.

"Hey mama! How's the mother of my god daughter doing?" she asked excitedly. I smiled and rolled my eyes.

"She's been bullying her mother all day. I can barely relax Sam. She's so active." I whined playfully.

"Oh no, don't blame it on my precious God baby. You need to be sitting down somewhere cause I know you're not." she said.

I bit my lip feeling guilty.

"Okay, that's not fair. There are still things to do around the house and I-"

"Where are you?" Sammy asked.

"I'm... just outside getting fresh air." I lied.

I felt a tap on my shoulder and then Sammy spoke again. "Really?"

I jumped and turned to find her standing behind me. I burst out laughing and she joined in.

"You're glowing love, look at you." she hugged me. I smiled shyly.

"Well, I wish I felt like I was glowing. I'm so tired just by walking here from the car. I parked in a handicap parking spot and frankly, I don't care." Sammy laughed.

"All of the other spots were way too far from the door. I was not about to do that. No ma'am." I was so serious.

"I hear that, so what are you doing here? Where's Kamani?" Sammy asked grabbing some fruits for me.

"She's waiting for me at the house. She told me to come straight home but-"

"Your hard headed ass don't like to listen."  Sammy finished my sentence. I giggled and looked at my buzzing phone.

It was Kamani. I ignored her call.

"Well, look let me help you finish up here and you go straight home. I'm going to follow you to make sure." Sammy gave me a stern look.

"I don't need a babysitter, Sammy. I'm fine, why do you guys think I'm disabled?" I rolled my eyes like a brat.

"Anyways, how is my god baby? How is little Kaylyn?" Sammy rubbed my tummy and I couldn't help but smile.

"She's been a riot all day. I'm so ready to go home and relax."

"Well, lets hurry so we can get you home safely."
