One Week Later...
" Emre how are things going at the house, is it coming along?" Can asked as he walked into Emre's office. " Well, I need for you to look at these plans and sign off on them, we don't have much time before you leave and they all have to be ok'd before you leave." He explained, sliding the blueprints over to him. Can studied them, " Whats this area right here," he asked, pointing to a room off the dining room. " Well, it can be whatever you want it to be, a workout room, a room for Sanem to write in, a media room. What do you want." He questioned. Since the room was positioned towards the back of the house, he decided to make it a room for Sanem to have for writing or reading, which ever she wanted. " Just make it a library/ writing room, for Sanem. It's a perfect spot." He said, his heart so happy he was able to do this for her. "Ok, will do," Emre said, rolling up the papers, and looking at his brother, " Well, tomorrow evening Abi, and it's all over for you." He said, waving his hands in the air. " What, why do you say that?" He asked, giving his brother a look. Emre laughed, " No more giving a beautiful woman the once over, or a second look, you know." Those days are over for you." He explained, pointing his finger at him. Can stared at him, thinking...." Do you even know me at all,...I will be able to look at the most beautiful woman in the world all I want, when this is over. And look won't be the half of it." He thought, smiling. " What are you smiling at," Emre said, confused at the humor his brother saw in that. " Nothing Emre, you wouldn't understand." Can said, turning to leave. He turned back, " Oh, how is it working with Leila on this, are you getting any ideas." He asked, smiling as he walked out the door.
The Aydin household was on panic mode, with only 20 hours until the wedding. Sanem had gone to pickup her dress, and the flowers for her hair, and was late getting back. The whole neighborhood was helping set up the garden area with all the decorations. Leila and their mom seemed to have it all under control, when she made it back, " Sanem where have you been, I was getting worried about you." Leila asked. Sanem was clearly not herself, staring off into space. " Sanem, what's wrong, did something happen" she asked, with a bit of hysteria creeping into her voice. Sanem jerked her head around, " Oh, Abla, I just saw the most terrible thing." She exclaimed, almost in tears. " Do you remember the old mansion by the park that I love so much?, She asked. Leila almost choked, staring at her, " Yes," she said hesitantly, "What about it." She asked. Sanem put have hand over her mouth for second, " I went by there on my way back," she said, trying to control the quiver in her voice, " And it looks like someone has bought it." I can't believe it, after all these years, someone bought it." She cried. " It's being gutted and renovated. "I hope they leave the charm it had, and not make it some updated modern place, that would be terrible." She spouted, visibly shaken at what she had seen. Leila wondered why she had went there, she never anticipated her doing that. " What made you go there Sanem, today of all days, when there was so much to do." She scolded her. Sanem looked at her, " I just had to see it, it has been so important to me over the years, I needed to feel it's calmness today." But I will never get to see or feel that again." I'm sick about it." She cried, hurrying upstairs to hang up her dress.
Leila wanted so badly to tell her sister, but she knew she couldn't. " She will know soon enough." She thought, reaching for her phone to call Emre, " Hello, Emre, You won't believe what Sanem did, she went to the house to see it before they leave." She spouted. "She was very upset to see someone bought it." That secret would be hard to keep.... All the last minute touches were being made, until way into the night. Sanem had already gone to her room, but Mevkibe and Milihat were still preparing food for the dinner, and Leila wanted some time with her sister before her big day. She knocked on the door, " Abla, can I come in?" She asked, waiting for an answer. Sanem quietly said, " Yes, come in." Please." She sat in the middle of her bed, staring at her notebook, " I want to write about all of this, but I'm so happy, the words sound like nonsense, like they aren't real words." She said, her face glowing. Leila was jealous of her sisters happiness, but not in a bad way. She wanted to feel that herself, that's all. She smiled, " Can I see your dress, I want to see what you picked out?" She pleaded. Sanem nodded, " Don't make fun of it, I bought what made me feel good." She said. She unzipped the garment bag and pulled out a white fitted dress, with a lace overlay, with an off the shoulder ruffle around the neckline. Leila couldn't help but smile, "Sanem , that's perfect, it's so you." She exclaimed, Her eyes tearing up. " And this crown of white flowers will go in my hair, do you think it will look ok?" She asked. Leila smiled, " It will more than Ok, it will be beautiful." She said, giving her sister a hug.
Can woke up early, or did he even go to sleep, he wasn't sure. But he needed to exercise, so he headed out for a run. He ran forever, and ended up at their house, he wanted to see the progress. The day she brought him there was so special for him, she had let him in, in her heart and soul. She trusted him with her secrets, that made him feel like he was hers and only hers, for the rest of their lives. This would be their heaven on earth, he was sure of it. The time had gotten away from him, as he started back home. His dad called, " Can, where are you." It's time to get ready." He said. It was already 1:00 and they needed to be at the Aydins by 4:00. How did he lose track of time. He ran back home, anxious to get started. He hadn't bought anything new for the ceremony, so he chose a white button up shirt he hadn't worn in a while, black jeans and lace up boots. This was his style, and he wanted to be himself for this. His dad and brother both had dressed in a suit, and was shocked to see him in his casual attire. By 3:30 they were on there way to their wedding.
Sanem was almost ready, her hair was being done, and the flowers were woven into her hair. The dress was the last thing, as she pulled it out, Leila asked, "Why did you chose a dress so simple." Sanem smiled, " That way I can wear it all the time, and feel like this anytime I want." She replied, her face lighting up like a flame.
" I want to remember this day just like this, simply special." .....
" Being able to wear this dress anytime, will keep this day forever in my heart".......
