Tris' POV
As we enter the dining hall, which contains a massive table with two seats at the head of it and 35 seats on the two longest sides, I can feel the hate for me radiating off the other girls.
When we enter through the doors into the dining room, the table is straight ahead, with the two chairs visible at the other me of the long dark wood table and the chairs either side. On the left side of the hall, are massive windows with red velvet curtains, on the right wall, pictures of all the pervious kings and queens, hanging from the celling, a chandelier and on the two short walls are four mirror, two on each, that are opposite each other. Infinity mirrors.
"Girls, please find your name tag and sit down, the places will be changed for each meal." The other girls hurry to find their places and quickly sit down. I gulp, realising that the last spare seat, is not the furthest from the prince as I expected, but the closest to him with a girl from Amity named Melissa opposite me and closest to King Marcus.
"Please eat lunch, I will speak to you when I feel i want you. Do not pressure me or I may not speak to you at all." Prince Tobias says before sitting down in the seat that is on my right, except for a table corner.
I glance at the food that fills the entire table, the same food placed on the table for every four girls, two on each side. The two girls opposite me and the one next to me dig in, as do the Prince and King, but I don't recognise any of the food except one, and that's because I'm allergic to it.
"Lady Beatrice, after that...display outside,it would be polite if you to accept the food we provide." King Marcus says, glaring at my empty place like its Satan.
"I'm not meaning to be rude your majesty. But I don't recognise any of the food, except the peas, which I'm allergic too." I say. Prince Tobias chuckles, stabbing his fork into a piece of round meat and placing it into my plate along with some vegetables I hadn't seen because they were obscured by other foods.
"That's, called a burger. You put this red stuff on it called ketchup. And those, believe it or not, are vegetables." I frown. Taking the bowl of red sauce from his hand, purposely avoiding any contact, and putting some on the burger before cutting some and putting it in my mouth.
"That's awesome." I whisper to myself, since Prince Tobias is already engaged in conversation with another Selected. He's most likely already forgotten my name.
For the rest of dinner, I stay quiet, eating the small amount of food I'm used to in Abnegation, and just taking to myself in my head.
King Marcus stands up, clapping his hands together twice and causing the room to tumble into silence.
"Now, ladies, you will be shown to your rooms and then you will be free to do anything you like as long as it's within the palace grounds and you have your maids with you. My guard of earlier comes to me and shows me upstairs and to a long corridor of just white doors. He leads me along it to the very end and unlocks the door to reveal a royal heaven.
First, in a large lounge area with sofas and beanbags and a massive TV, though an alcove to the left is a fancy bed with an open door leading to a bathroom on one side and a dressing room with a vanity mirror and pedi-stool in it. To the right of the door is a floor to ceiling wardrobe with mirrors on the doors and my favourite part, opposite the door, is a window seat/day bed, and around it are bookshelves, and also at the end and foot wall of the bed. It's made to look like a wood or forest, and lying on the pillow on the day bed is Coraline. I run my fingers along the cover as the guard speaks.
"Excuse miss?' He asks, nervous again. I turn and smile.
"I forgot to ask, what's your name?"
"Recruit Robert Black miss, and your maids are here miss." He steps aside to let in three young woman, maybe mid twenties, into the room, all wearing plain dresses in light blue with aprons.
"It's okay, I...I don't feel I'll need maids." Robert frowns as another guard outside says something.
"If I were you, I'd rethink that before the prince and King come on their visits." He says simply. Before long, both King Marcus and Prince Tobias are standing in my room, their room I guess.
"What is the meaning of this?" King Marcus practically shouts. I suppose he was told about the maid situation.
"I just...I don't feel I would need maids Sir." I say, frightened for the first time in practically forever.
"Learn some manners young lady, your maids will be with you at all times unless you are with my son. Tobias do something with this girl, drill some manners into her so she acts like a lady!" And with that he storms off.
"We'll come back later Lady Beatrice." I hear a maid say, then footsteps and the door closing. I know Tobias is approaching me, but I don't have the courage to look up.
"That was idiotic and pathetic of you Lady Beatrice." I note the fact that he takes the time to use the word Lady, like it would soften the blow of the insult. I look up at him.
"Take that back." I hiss. He grabs my jaw and forces me to look him right in the eye.
"No, Tris, you take that back, or I'll throw you out." I shake under his grip and when he lets go I breath out and step away from him. Far away from him.
"How did you know my name?" I ask quietly.
"Love, your name is on every news channel in the city."
"No, my nickname." I say back, still looking down at my feet.
"Your....application Form. It was on that." He had to think about that one, but I accept the answer since it's the only possible way he could know.
"Anyway, Lady Beatrice, what are you wearing. Not exactly the best dressed here are you. I'm not impressed." He says snidely. I do look up at him now.
"Maybe I don't want to impress you, maybe I don't want to be here, maybe I hate you....and my friend gave me this." Tobias laughs.
"Friend? When did you meet this friend."
"Like two days ago." Tobias leans very close to my ear.
"More of an stranger then. He probably only gave it to you because you felt sorry for you." With that, he heads towards the door, but just before he closes the door behind him.
"Prince Tobias?"
"Hmm?"
"I never mentioned my friend being a boy."
He slams the door shut.

So, leaving St Ives today and going somewhere else in Cornwall, that I'm 99% will have no signal and I've been told the house wifi is extremely slow. I'll try, but treat any updates before next Sunday as a surprise.-Pretendingtofly
