A Favor

Few days had passed since I had Toph and Katara over for dinner at my house. I'm in my room and I feel a little empty. "Sweetheart are you okay?" my mother asks me at my doorway. "I'm okay mom, I'm just thinking." "About what (y/n)?" "My friends that I had over, Toph especially." She sat next to me on my bed and rubbed her hand on my head and gave me a hug. "Then go talk to her." I looked up at her. "You are an adult now, so you can make your own decisions. Even if that's going to talk to a girl." I crack a smile and hug her tightly. "I love you mom." "I love you too (y/n)." 'This is nice.' And as we were talking, there was a knock at the door.

(Toph Pov)

(1 hour earlier)

Katara's crying holding Aang in her arms while were escaping from Zuko and Azula and Ba Sing Se. "We need a new plan." Sokka said to me at the front of Appa. I lowered my head in sadness thinking of what to do. "Any ideas?" he asked. "Well, I know someone who can give us some advice, but he's in the city." "We'll drop you off outside the city and sneak back in and get your advice from him." I nod and we get out of the city and we land to drop me off to make my way back. "We'll be a few miles away, meet up there." I put my thumb up and earth bend the ground open and jump in.

(Present)

"Toph? Whe.." Before I could finish, she covered my mouth and pushed me back into the house following. "I know this is strange for me to show up out of nowhere and just enter your house, but we have a problem, and I need a favor." I became concerned about what the problem could be. "I need to talk to you (y/n), alone." I show her to my room and my mother walks out and closes the door behind her. "Aang's been seriously hurt, by the Fire lord's bitch daughter, Azula. We're meeting up with Katara and Sokka's dad to prepare another plan to invade the Fire Nation."

"Hold on one second Toph. Aang's hurt, Fire lord's daughter is here, and you're planning on invading the Fire Nation?! Are you guys insane?? You're asking for suicide at that point." She grabbed my shirt and shoves me against the wall and keeps talking. "Listen (y/n), I didn't come here to be barraged by your questions and opinions on our mission." "Then...why did you come?" She then let go of my shirt and leaned her head on my chest and started to lightly cry. "We need your help (y/n) ...I...need your help. One blind person to another."

I am speechless at this confident young lady, whose normally not caring about anyone's opinion and taking on everything headstrong, is now crying into my chest and asking for my help. 'God damn it (y/n) say something!' "Let me go with you." 'NOT THAT YOU IDIOT!' We then get interrupted by my mother knocking at the door. "(y/n), there are Fire Nation soldiers outside!" I 'look' back at Toph and start grabbing my things. "I'm coming with you."

"No (y/n) you are not. I only came here to get advice, not recruit you." "I don't care, I've made up my mind and you can't change it now." She gives a nudge in the shoulder and I return the gesture. I leave a note on my bed, and we jump out the back window. Toph then makes a hole in the ground and we jump in. "Welcome to Team Avatar (y/n)." "A pleasure."
