(Y/N Pov)

(10 years later)

It has been roughly 10 years since I returned to Ba Sing Se and broke up with Toph. Not much had changed when I got back, minus the fact that the Fire Nation was no longer there, and Earth King had returned to control the kingdom. Other than that, I just kept doing routes and earning more and more money until I got what I had dreamed of getting, my own place to play music and entertain the people. After buying the property, my mother helped me run the place whilst I played music, and it was an okay life. Tonight, is more of a low tide kinda night, and decided to fit the mood of the room.

(Hurt by Johnny Cash)

"I hurt myself today to see if I still feel. I focus on the pain the only thing that's real. The needle tears a hole, the old familiar sting. Try to kill it all the way, but I remember everything." I felt like putting more emotion into this song tonight than I normally do with it, but I couldn't exactly figure out why I decided to. "What have I become my sweetest friend? Everyone I know goes away in the end. And you could have it all, my empire of dirt. I will let you down, and I will make you hurt." On the last line, I felt like I was putting so much into it that I could feel a tear fall down my face as I ended the song.

There were some claps and whistles at the end, and I just bowed and thanked the crowd, just like any other day in Ba Sing Se. I walked off to the backstage and found my mother sitting down. "(y/n), are you okay?" I was confused by what she meant by this. "What do you mean mom?" "That song tonight, you seemed to put a lot more into it than usual, and you are crying." I wipe my face quickly to get the tears away. "What? No, no I'm not crying mom I'm just, thinking." "Sweetheart, I know what 'thinking' means in your terms, so please tell me what's wrong." I just sigh and put my guitar down. "I'll tell you after we close down tonight, okay?" She nods her head and gives me a hug.

A few hours later, after shutting down the place, I packed my guitar and went to my mother's house. Upon getting to my mother's house, I saw Appa sitting outside the house. My heart skipped a beat for a split second and realized that they've come back to visit. "Oh, shit." I prepared myself and made my way into the house. Upon entering, I saw my mother talking to Aang and Katara. "(y/n), we have some familiar guests." "I...see that, and it is nice to see you guys again. Mother, if it's okay with you, I would like to talk to them alone please?" "Oh, of course (y/n)." And so, she left the room and I sat down at the table with Aang and Katara. "(y/n), it's been so long since we've seen you." Katara said. "Yea. About 10 years. So, what are you guys doing here?"

Aang answered, "Well, we wanted to see how you were doing, and we wanted to ask you something." "Okay? Well first off, I am doing good. I got my own business now performing music for the people in the Middle Ring. And second off, what is this question for me?" Katara then spoke up. "Well, we were curious if you wanted to attend our wedding and be the entertainment at the Southern Water Tribe in these upcoming weeks?" I was surprised by them asking me to attend, because I technically knew them for only a few months after I left. "I mean...yeah I can but...why me?"

"Please (y/n), we both know you're a phenomenal performer, and it would be amazing if you could." Aang said. I sigh and stroke my facial hair that I have been growing out, and 'look' back at them. "Okay, I'll do it." Katara got excited and jumped up and hugged me. "Alright, alright calm down Katara." I chuckle and stand up, and Aang spoke up. "Thank you (y/n), this means a lot to us." "Anytime Aang." We spoke for a little while longer before they had to leave, and I waved them off.

I walked back in the house and my mother was now sitting at the table. "Mom, I thought you'd be sleeping by now, why are you still awake?" "We still have something to talk about (y/n), and I plan on talking about it." I lower my head and walk back to the table and sit down. "Remember Toph mom?" "Yes, why?" "Well, remember when I told you that we broke up and I left the group to come home?" "Yes." "I didn't mention that I regret leaving them, and the grief has been sitting on my shoulders all these years. I miss her a lot." She put her hand on my shoulder and rubbed my shoulder. "(y/n), I think you need to make amends for this grief that you have." I sit there with my head down thinking and not really knowing what to do.

My mother lifts my head up by my chin and sees tears falling down my face and wipes them away. "You love her. So, go tell her." I slightly smile and wrap up my mother in a hug. "I promise I will after this wedding. Why is it you always know what to say mom." "It's easy, I've been in the same boat as you before."
