The Wedding Reception

(Toph Pov)

I don't even know why the wedding had to be here where it's super cold the whole year in order to have this wedding. There are so many other places that would have been better than here. I know that this is a sentimental place for them and so forth but come on people. Some time had passed and eventually the ceremony had ended, and the reception was going to start. I walked with Sokka and Suki to a table and was told by them that there was a special guest for the entertainment. "So, who is this special guest that is supposed to be entertaining us?" Suki asked. I just shrug my shoulders, "Probably some waterbender guy who's very pompous and full of shit." Suki giggles and lightly shoves me. "Oh Toph, come on maybe this person is actually really good at what they do."

As we continued conversing about the entertainment and what we have been up to since the end of the war, we heard Aang and Katara calling for everyone's attention. "Attention everyone! Attention! We are now ready to introduce the entertainment for the night, so please help us give a warm welcome to (y/n) (l/n), also known as The Blind Musician!" All time froze as everyone started clapping and cheering as he appeared and sat down on the stage.

"Thank you everyone for the generous welcome to the Southern Water Tribe. Before I start, I would like again to congratulate the newly wedded couple. (applause) Now to start things off, I figured I'd play an original love song for them, so please enjoy." There was more applause and he began playing his first song.

"If I ever were to lose you...I'd surely lose myself. Everything I have found here...I've not found by myself. Try and sometimes you'll succeed...to make this man of me. All my stolen missing parts...I've no need for them anymore. Cause I believe, and I believe cause I can see...our future days. Days of you and me."

My heart felt like it was racing at a million miles an hour as he sang that song. That song had a whole new meaning to me after he showed me that song all those years ago. I felt a smile ever so slightly crack across my face as he continued to the end of the song and the applause started. He continued to sing songs for about half an hour until he announced that he was gonna take a short break and return shortly. I took this time to tell Suki and Sokka that I was gonna go to the bathroom and walked away to find Katara and Aang.

I found the two talking to each other about (y/n)'s performance and I intervened. "Hey, Twinkle Toes." "Toph, what's up?" I slightly kicked the ground. "Do you know where (y/n) is?" He walked up to me and placed her hand on my shoulder. "Yea I do, come with me." I followed him behind the stage and to a big hut that was meant for guests. "Wait here for a second." And he walked into the hut. He came back out a few seconds later and told me I could go in.

(Y/n Pov)

I was checking my strings on my guitar and drinking some water to keep myself hydrated from all the singing and I heard Aang at the door. "Hey (y/n), are you free right now?" I turn around to respond. "Yeah why do you ask?" "Well, there's someone who wishes to talk to you." My mind was thinking oh it is a fan who wants an autograph, even though I can't write. I tell her sure and he leaves, and another person walks into the hut. "Hey (y/n)." "Toph?" I lose my train of thought for a moment and then she spoke again. "So, it's been a while, huh?" "Umm...yea...a little over 10 years." There was an awkward silence between us for a few seconds before she spoke again.

"Soooo uhhhh...what have you been up to lately? I heard that you got your own business back in Ba Sing Se." "Yea, I have been doing good with that. My mom helps run the place since she doesn't like staying put for long." "(chuckle) Yea she has that personality, doesn't she?" I decided to be a little bold and walk up to her. "So, do you have any requests for the rest of the performance?" "Well, do you remember that song that you sang when we first met all those years ago?" I cracked a smile and said yes. "Alright, I can do that." "Also, after the performance, do you want to hang out maybe?"

I felt my heart skip a beat and stuttered a bit. "I... I mean...s...sure I could...yeah." She chuckled a bit and gave me a punch on the shoulder and I gave one back after a second, and she turned around and started walking out. "I'll meet you back here after the performance, okay?" "Okay." And she left. I could feel my cheeks heat up and I took some water and dabbled it on my cheeks. "Okay okay okay okay calm down (y/n), you're okay, you're okay. Just take deep breaths and finish this performance. (deep breath) Showtime." I grabbed my guitar and went back out to the stage.
