A few hours passed and my mother finally arrived at the place, I gave her a hug and Lin came running in and grabbed her leg. "Gran Gran!" "Hey there ya little Badgermole. How have you been since I last saw you?" "We made a present for mommy!" I cover her mouth and jump into the conversation. "Oh? And what is this 'present' that you made?" "Oh, nothing big, just something that Lin made that she thinks Toph will like." "Okay (y/n), whatever you say." I have slightest feeling that she knows something is up, so I hurried to gather my things, gave Lin a big hug, gave my mother I kiss on the cheek, and rushed out the door.

(TIMESKIP)

(Toph Pov)

I got home after a long day at the station, and I was quite tired. I got to the living room and I heard (y/n)'s mother putting Lin to bed in her room, so I was petting Lumia while I waited for her to come out to talk. "Oh, hi Toph. I didn't hear you come in." "It's okay, I just got back from work. Where's (y/n) at?" "He's out with the rest of your friends, and they're just waiting on you." "Oh?" She grabbed my hand and brought me into the bedroom. She handed me a dress and I gave it the feel-over, and I must say, (y/n) has some remarkably interesting taste tonight.

After getting dressed in the dress that was chosen, I leave to meet up with the others. About half haw there to the restraint the gang is waiting for me, I heard the slightest footsteps running behind me that caught my attention. I slowed my pace for a second trying to pinpoint the person but ended up hearing a few others but also to the sides of me. I decided to try and lose them, and I cut into an alleyway and before they could catch up to me, I cut a hole into the ground and jumped in.

(Y/n Pov)

At the restaurant, Katara, Aang, Sokka, Zuko, and myself are sitting patiently with me for Toph to arrive at the restaurant, and I am beginning to grow nervous. "(y/n), it's okay, she'll be here." "I'm sorry, I'm just nervous. I've been planning this night for a while now." Sokka nudged my shoulder. "Don't worry buddy, she'll be here." I sigh and twiddle my fingers anxiously. As we're sitting there, I can feel the ground rumble a little bit and my head perks up. "She's here!" I say as the ground a few feet away breaks open and Toph jumps out.

She lands and closes the ground, walks over to the group, I give her a kiss and we sit down. "Sorry if I'm late guys, I got a little sidetracked." "That's okay babe, I'm just glad you're here." The others then noticed that the dress she was wearing was very extravagant. "I must say Toph, you're dress looks very beautiful." Zuko compliments. "Thanks, it was chosen for me, since ya know..." As she waves her hand over her face, and we all get a laugh out of it. As a little more time passes, I thought to myself 'It's now or never (y/n), shoot your shot.' "Hey Toph?" I say as I turn towards her in my seat.

I could feel the gang hold their breath as I turned to her. "Yea (y/n)?" I slowly reach for my pocket, "Well, I was just thinking about all the good times you, me, and the gang here had in our younger days and the past few years, and I just got curious about something." "And what would that be?" I reached for her hand and stood up out of my chair and went down on one knee. As I started to kneel, I could feel her hand tighten around mine. "Will you, Toph Beifong, ma..." And suddenly, I felt her pull my arm and toss me across the way and into some brush.

"AMBUSH!" I hear Toph yell after she threw me, and then all I could hear was fighting and the gang getting beaten up. I eventually got up and out of the brush and noticed it was dead quiet, and no sound in the vicinity. "Toph? Aang? Katara? Sokka? Zuko?......Toph! Aang! Katara! Sokka! Zuko!" I was calling out and I heard a slight grunt and rustling. "(y/n) ...?" "Sokka!" I run up to him and sit him up. "What happened Sokka?" "(wince) Some guys came and, Ty Lee'd us." "Ty Lee'd? What the hell is that?" "It's the thing where uh, they punch you a lot and you can't bend." "Oh......Shit."

Damn Chi Blockers, I had heard from Toph that they were becoming more abundant recently in Republic City, but I just kinda brushed it off since I really don't show to people that I really don't bend much anymore. "Sokka, you got your Boomerang?" "Always, why?" "We need to get something at my place, and then we're getting them back."
