Chapter Fifty-Seven Through So Much

My Person- Spencer Cranewell
Ryder's POV

     "The urge to protect your child is a strong thing, and it makes you stronger than you've ever been. I promise, Ryder. I promise it's a good thing." I nod as she nods and steps back looking to Gina. She steps forward and points to the computer.

     "You'll be able to see it on there. And this will be cold." She says and I nod again as she presses it down on my stomach and moves it around until she stops and smiles as a noise sounds and I freeze. "You hear that thumping?" She asks and I nod.

     "Yeah. Is that-" I hesitate and swallow.

     "That's it's heartbeat." She says and I turn my head to the computer screen, looking at it just as she points and motions around the screen. "There it is. It looks to be about four weeks old." She says and looks to me. Four weeks old. "Congratulations, Ryder." A warm feeling comes over me as tears fill my eyes and I sniff. But these tears weren't bad. They were good. Happy. Blake was right, this child could change my life. Our life. And it's already begun. I start to smile, soft and slow as I stare at the screen before me. The fact that this was inside me was just about a miracle. "It looks healthy, it will be okay."

     I nod as she takes the thing away and wipes off the gel on my stomach. "Are there any questions you have?" She asks and I shake my head.

"I think it's time I talk to Dallas." I sigh sliding my legs over and sitting up. Blake and Sam both nod as Gina focuses on putting everything away.

     "I think that's the best idea." Blake nods. "I kept it a secret from Felix, and he's only gotten to be a father for a few months. A child needs a father and a mother. And I know this won't ruin his life, but make it better." Sam nods in agreement.

     "She's right." Sam says. "I believe that too." I nod looking toward the door. The only thing is I didn't want to see Drake again.

     "Is he still out there?"I ask and Blake shakes her head.

     "They should be done with him by now. He should be in lockup." I nod and stand on me feet looking to Sam.

      "Where are you gonna go?"

     "I'm gonna stick around here." She looks to Gina. "I wanna help you so whatever you need tell me to do it." Gina nods.

     "I can use your help." Gina says before looking to me and giving a smile. "God luck Ryder." I nod to that before heading out with Blake. We walk into the lobby seeing it cleared out other than Alex and Aiden who just stood around talking to each other and I sigh in relief. I was glad he wasn't here again.

     "Hey." Blake says making me stop and look to her. "Have some faith, okay? It's really not as bad as it may seem. I promise you."

     "I get that, but it doesn't stop the turning feeling in my stomach." She nods in understanding. "But I do have to tell him. I can't keep it a secret." She nods.

     "Secrets are the silent killers of this world. You know what Felix once said to me? It was a poem he wrote. He said 'I will love you till the end of time. Till the wind doesn't chime And the music doesn't play Is all I can say. Love is never ending Although I am still pending, Cause people they all lie. To try and get us to fly They want us to be of the world. For its the will of the lord Although it doesn't seem like a will. Cause love also does kill We fight and we fight For our sight and our right But I will love you with all my heart. Until death do us apart'. Dallas is in this for the long run. His fight is your fight. That's why he's always fighting.

"When you were gone, he never gave up or stopped looking for you. He wasn't going to rest until he knew you were okay. And that day you called him he was happy you were alive but terrified of what could happen to you if we didn't find you. Because of him, we found you that day. And even if we didn't he never would have given up on you. So please don't give up on him." I nod.
