As I was getting into my apartment, I looked around the hallway to see who was home. As a fellow detective of the NYPD, I wanted to make sure that my fellow neighbors are doing okay. I knocked on Brain's door. When he opened the door I saw him, the most amazing man I had ever seen, "Clara, how are you doing today?" I responded shyly "I'm ok, I just need a glass of wine, how are you Bry?" He only allowed me to call him by that name. He knew I liked him and he did too.
"Pretty good, especially now, I have some wine. Care to join me?" I blushed, "Um... Sure," I giggled as he let me in.
His place was a homey place. Ever since his divorce, he really couldn't redecorate his place. I've lived next to him for the last four years and I still got the butterfly feeling still. It was mostly the reason why his ex-wife and him split, she thought he was having an affair with me. Which was not true, I tried telling her but her mind was made up.
"I don't want too be rude Bry but..." He interrupted me "I know she's not coming back, I'm going to redecorate this place, would you mind helping me? Ever since Isabelle left, I haven't been able to shop for the house much... Well cause I stink at shopping." He laughed as he said that in his charming way. I smiled and blushed, "Sure, I don't mind." He looked at me and then said, "Your smile glows so much, I just love that!" He smiled and quickly went to go get the wine.
We talked a bit, but it was mostly us on the couch watching a late movie before I had to go back to work. I was supposed to be catching up on my sleep but I couldn't... especially with Brian next to me. "So... how was being a chef?" I chuckled as I said that, because I didn't believe he was a chef still after four years. He had never cooked for me so... I didn't believe him. "Very funny, but pretty good I came up with a new recipe today. I'm gonna try it this weekend, want to join me?" He raised his eyebrow in a mesmerizing way and looked at me as if I needed to, to get away... or did he just ask me out on a date? "Ok... yeah I'll join you," He could see I was still thinking if I could or not. He sat up and look me dead in my eyes, "Clara it's a chance to get away from all the crime, all the work you have weighted on your shoulders." He started rubbing them for me, "I know..." He interrupted me, "I'm being serious. You are coming here Saturday at 7 and we're gonna make dinner." I laughed and said "Ok ok I'll come." "and come dressed fancy." "Ok I will" I smiled and he did too, and we just watched the movie.
After about the third movie, I looked up at him and he was rubbing my legs and watching the movie. He was so gorgeous and good looking, he had the most unique personality ever. I was so happy to know him and maybe like him. I never knew I would know a guy so kind like Brian, but I did and I got that butterfly feeling. When he first moved in, I tried to flirt but when I found out he was married I was embarrassed and started to hang less around him. I knew his wife was worried about him and I. I think that's why she hated me so much but... who cares!
When I checked my phone to see if I had any missed calls or anything it was 5 am and I had to get ready. I whispered "Bry," he looked over very tiredly, "yeah?" "I have to get ready for work, sorry." I got up and leaned over to give him a hug "I'll text you later Bry, bye" "Bye, don't forget Saturday or I'll go to your work and make you leave!" he said it chuckling "I won't." I went to his door and opened it "Clara," I looked over and said "Yeah," He looked in my eyes and I knew he was serious "Please be really safe." As I left I said "I promise to always be safe for you."
