Chapter One: 12 Grimmauld Place
"My heir. My child. Come to me."
Eleanor Roseanne Edwards woke to a start, covered in sweat and breathing heavily. Her black cat, purring next her and taking her place next to the fifteen year old. These nightmares had been plaguing the young girl's mind for a couple of weeks now. There was no patterns to when they would come, but they came at random. She wondered what these dreams meant, or whose voice it was that was calling out to her. The voice was like a hissing sound, much like a snake. Eleanor considered herself to be fairly normal. She wasn't in constant danger like her friends, mostly staying out things like that, knowing well enough if whatever else didn't kill her, surely her Mum would.
A knock at the door pulled at Eleanor's thoughts, as she watched her Mother's head poke through.
"Good morning, honey. I believe your friend, Hermione is coming today so I can take both of you to purchase your books and whatever else you girls will need, then we'll head over to the Grimmauld Place for dinner with the Weasleys." Evelyn sat on the edge of Eleanor's bed. "Oh, don't forget to feed Nala, I'm sure your Uncle wouldn't like you starving your cat." Evelyn smiled, before petting the black cat. Eleanor nodded her head and pulled the covers off her head. Evelyn walked over to Eleanor's closet and picked out an outfit while Eleanor headed off into her bathroom.
Wearing a simple black pants paired with white sweater and black shoes, Eleanor headed downstair and into the kitchen, where Hermione was chatting with Evelyn.
"Hey, Mione. I'm ready to go Mum." Eleanor greeted her friend with a hug. Despite the different houses, Eleanor and Hermione still managed to the best of friends, always studying together, being each other's support systems.
Evelyn stood up smoothing her dress out and held her arm out for both girls to grab. Hermione reached out for the left while Eleanor grabbed her right and the three girls apparated to Diagon Alley.
Heading into Flourish and Blotts first, the girls collected all their books that they need for school year. Hermione and Eleanor ended up buying extra books, knowing well enough not to purchase the same copy because they always traded off books after reading. Exiting the book store, Eleanor looked up from her book, her eyes catching the grey eye's of Draco Malfoy. The Edwards were friends with the Malfoys, only through the Ministry jobs that their father's worked. However, Eleanor never agreed to Draco Malfoy's idea or his bullying amongst the students at Hogwarts.
Continuing to stare, Eleanor and Hermione made their way to grab some butterbeer, when Hermione spoke up.
"Why was Malfoy staring at you?" The curly headed genius asked.
"Beats me," Eleanor shrugged, taking a small sip of her butterbeer.
***
Evelyn, Eleanor, and Hermione all apparated in front of 12 Grimmauld Place. Entering the house, it was strange for it to be so quiet. Eleanor quickly greeted the adults, whom were all sitting at the table, before making her way upstairs to see the rest of her friends.
Hermione, Ron, George, Fred, and Ginny were all sitting in a room, spread over the bed, chair, and floor. The news reached Hermione and Eleanor that Harry had been expelled from Hogwarts as well as being attacked by dementors. Some of the Order members had also made their way to pick up Harry from the Dursley's house.
"You think, Theodore will be here?" Ginny asked, smiling widely at Eleanor. It was no secret to Eleanor that a majority of the female (and some male) populations admired the younger Edwards, with multiple girls eyeing down the man each year he came to drop off his niece at Platform 9 and 3/4.
Eleanor rolled her eyes at Ginny, and shrugged her shoulders.
"Who knows? My Uncle goes and stays everywhere. He travels mostly, hardly visited this summer." Theodore enjoyed his single life and knew he certainly did not want to be like his brother, a family man.
"Got a crush now, Gin." George teased. Ginny blushed and pushed her brother. Hearing footsteps, the group stopped laughing to see Harry Potter standing at the door. Hermione and Ron instantly rushed over, while Hermione pulled in for a hug.
"Oh, Harry. Are you all right? We overheard them talking about the Dementor attack. You must tell us everything." Hermione rushed on.
"Let the man breathe, Mione." Eleanor smiled as she walked up to her friend. "Are you okay?" Harry nodded his head weakly. Hermione continued her rant.
"And this hearing at the Ministry. It's just outrageous. I've looked it up. They simply can't expel you. It's completely unfair." Harry just looked around the room, before asking.
"So, what is this place?"
"It's headquarters for the Order, it's an army that Dumbledore created." Eleanor answered. She as well as the rest of them, all knew that they weren't allowed to tell everything to Harry, something Dumbledore made very clear to the teenagers when they first arrived.
"Couldn't have put any of this in a letter, I suppose?"
"We want to Harry, only that, Dumbledore made us swear not to tell about the place." Hermione looked down at her feet.
"Dumbledore said that?" Everyone in the group didn't make eye contact with Harry, answering his questions. "But why would he keep me in the dark? Maybe I could help. I'm the one who saw Voldemort return... the one who fought him, who saw Cedric Diggory get killed." Harry continued. George and Fred looked at each other and in efforts to diffuse the tension, offered to listen in on the Order. The group all made their way outside, and around the banister.
"If anyone has a right to know, it's Harry. If it wasn't for Harry... we wouldn't even know Voldemort was back." Sirius' voice was heard first. "As well as Eleanor."
"You leave my daughter out of this," Eleanor furrowed her brows at her Mother's tone. She had never heard her this angry.
"Evelyn-"
"No, Thomas. Eleanor and Harry, they are all children. They are our children. Sirius, it is our duty to protect them."
"From the truth as well?"
"Might as well,"
"Let's all calm down now." Ginny smiled up at the sound of Theodore's voice, causing Eleanor to lightly slap her arm.
"Evelyn is right, they are all children. He is not James." Molly agreed with Evelyn.
"He is not a child. They are growing up- both of them." Sirius argued back.
As the group continued to listen in, Crookshanks decided now was time to nibble on the enchanted ear cause the group to whisper out their anger at the cat.
"Hermione, your cat is a menace."
Walking down the stair, the group of teenagers acted as if they had heard nothing. Eleanor sat down next to her Uncle, giving him a quick hug. Hermione sat besides her and the two quickly started to discuss their studying plan for this year. Evelyn, sat on the other side, smiled remembering her days at Hogwarts. Sirius, looked over at the two girls as well.
"Reminds me of you and Lily. Ravenclaw and Gryffindor." Evelyn smiled at Sirius. The happiest day of her life also happened to be the worst day. She lost her best friend, but gained her purpose.
