Chapter Three: Patrol Schedules

The room was cold and dark. There was a sickening feeling in Eleanor's stomach. The tiles along the walls were a dark mixture blue and green. Looking down at her own feet, Eleanor was wearing her normal black shoes, the laces tied, with dark grey socks. Covering partially the socks, were her black pants. Her white shirt underneath was untucked. And the Ravenclaw vest, that she wore when it was too hot for the sweaters, was also untucked. Eleanor looked around the long hallways. There seemed to be blue orbs all around her, lined up in shelves.

A hissing sound, caught Eleanor's attention as she turned around reaching into her pocket for her wand. Eleanor stopped, realizing her wand was not in her pocket anymore. Hearing the noise once more, Eleanor took a step closer to where she heard the noise. With each step closer, the hissing grew louder and louder. Eleanor could hear her own heartbeat the closer she got. The hissing sound grew into a whisper, and Eleanor made out what the whispers were telling her.

"Come to me, my heir. My noble heir. Join me." Eleanor took a step back a the sight of scales, gasping in horror.

Covered in cold sweat, Eleanor placed her hand over her chest. Her hair was sticking her forehead and she could not differentiate dreams from reality for a split seconds. Softly, removing the covers off of her, Eleanor made sure not to move around too harshly in fear to angering the black cat asleep next to her.

Eleanor got dressed in her uniform, and wrapped the Ravenclaw robe around her, the Prefect badge, sitting above her house symbol. She walked out her dormitory and dreaded having to walk down the stairs. Sometimes she had wished that there were slides for students to go down every once in a while.

Making her way to the Great Hall to grab a quick toast before heading off to her first class as well as grabbing her schedules for classes and patrols. Professor Flitwick made his way across the Ravenclaw table handing out the schedules. Receiving her schedule, Eleanor saw that she had mostly mixed classes, which were always her favorite, because she got to see Hermione. The Head boy also made his way towards Eleanor handing her the schedule to the patrols. Patrols were often mixed in between houses, but also aware of the certain precautions between houses.

Eleanor stared at the her name, blinking hard at the name that she was partnered with. Wednesdays and Sundays. Every week, she would have to roam the castle halls with the one person she was supposed to stay away.

"Edwards, you okay?" Eleanor looked up at Anthony Goldstein, who was also holding his copy of the schedules.

"Yeah, I'm okay. I'm going to go find Hermione." Eleanor quickly got out her seat, looking up as she pulled her leg out of the seat. Considering that it was still the weekend, Hogwarts students had two days to get comfortable before classes started on Monday. Finding Hermione sitting down with Harry and Ginny, Eleanor quickly sat down at the Gryffindor table.

"Did you see the schedules for patrols?" Eleanor asked Hermione, whom nodded her head also holding the paper in her hand.

"Dreadful, you'll have to be with Malfoy. At least Head Boy and Girl will use Fridays, so we have Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays to study and hangout. Are you okay with being partnered with Malfoy?" Hermione asked, taking a sip of orange juice.

"I'll keep my distance, but why can't we not patrol with our house partners?" Eleanor always thought prefects patrolled around with their housemates.

"I think they want us to be friends with others students from different houses, I suppose." What Hermione said made sense, if students from different houses were to become friends, it would make Hogwarts stronger. There was no obvious war between the houses, other than the one between Gryffindor and Slytherin.

Eleanor made her way to the library to check out a book for reading before she went to bed. Just as she turned the corner, the blond headed Slytherin walked straight into her.

"Sorry,-" Eleanor looked up to see Draco Malfoy.

"Edwards."

"Malfoy."

"I saw that we had rounds together on Wednesdays, I suppose it's better than Parkinson or the others." Eleanor only nodded her head.

"See you Wednesday, then," Eleanor moved around the blond, and into the library and looked around the shelves for something to read. She knew that she was supposed to stay away from him, her Mum had asked to her to do so, but how was she supposed to now that she had to be with him for nearly two hours every week, alone.
