Chapter Ten: Butterflies
Eleanor woke up happy. She hadn't had a nightmare in a few days. On top of that she was able to attend the D.A. meeting on Friday. She also didn't tell anyone, not even Cho Chang, about her current relationship status with Draco Malfoy. The two would steal glances at one another every once in awhile. While walking in the halls to classes, Eleanor would feel a brush of a hand against hers and see that it was Draco. She knew that her mother would quite literally pull her out of Hogwarts for the even mentioning the blonde's name.
Eleanor noticed a small group of students crowed around the foyer in front of the Great Hall. Eleanor found a small group of red hair as she approached them.
"What's going on?" Eleanor asked. Hermione shook her head and pointed at the framed paper, which wrote a new rule for the Hogwarts students.
All student organizations are henceforth disbanded. Any student in noncompliance will be expelled.
"I think Umbridge saw all of walking together or must have heard something." Hermione muttered. The group made their way into the Great Hall. There was a couple of students sitting around, either doing homework or hanging out. "We need to keep it more on the low. If Umbridge finds out, then we would surely be expelled from Hogwarts. I haven't even taken my O.W.L.S" Hermione went on. Eleanor nodded her head, thinking if her parents found about this club, she would never hear the end of us. Theodore would surely defend her, but Evelyn Edwards was a force to be reckoned with.
"My mother would literally kill me." Eleanor frowned, looking at Ron who also nodded his head. Mrs. Weasley and Mrs. Edwards together was even worse. Eleanor and Ron knew this information first hand. Eleanor sat down next to Ron.
"We need a better way of communicating. If we keep meeting in groups, then for sure Umbridge will found out." Eleanor whispered to Hermione. Hermione nodded her head, and suddenly she smiled jumping in her seat.
"I've got an idea, I'll tell you guys later." Hermione jumped out of the bench and practically running out of the Great Hall. Harry, Ron, and Eleanor all just stared at each for a minute before laughing.
"Come on, I don't think Angelina would happy if we're late for Quidditch." Harry slipped out of the bench, following Ron. "See you later, Eleanor." Both boys waved goodbye, as they walked out. Eleanor sat by herself, looking around the room, her eyes meeting the grey eyes of Draco Malfoy. He tilted his head slightly towards the door of the Great Hall. Eleanor nodded her head, making sure no one would notice, and walked outside the Great Hall. She made her way through the corridors, knowing that Draco was likely following her, but keeping his distant. She found an empty corridor and an empty closet, and looking behind her at Draco. He was walking with his hands shoved into his pockets.
Eleanor looked around in the dark room.
"Lumos." She whispered. The closet held a few shelves with old textbooks. There were cobwebs in the top corner of the room, with small spiders spinning their webs. Eleanor reached towards the books, brushing off the dust. She opened the textbook, reading as an old volume of a Potions book. The door behind her opened and swiftly closed as soon it opened. Eleanor turned around to see Draco Malfoy. She felt her heart beat rate pick up faster as she completely faced the blonde. Draco had a soft smile upon his lip as he pulled Eleanor close to him. Eleanor wrapped her arms around Draco's waist, under his jacket. Starting from the previous years, Draco started to wear suits when he wasn't wearing his robes. Pressing her cheeks to his chest, Eleanor smiled as Draco wrapped his arm around the girl, pulling her closer.
"How was your day going?" Eleanor asked, keeping her voice down not to attract anyone else from outside.
"It was okay, better now." Draco answered.
"Better huh? Why's that?" Eleanor pulled away to see his face. Even with dim lighting of her wand, he still looked handsome to her.
"Now that I'm with you." Draco leaned down slightly, just so that their noses were touching. They hadn't kissed yet, but both were waiting for the right moment. Draco certainly did not want it to be in some dusty closet. "How is your day going?" Draco asked, brushing away a stray hair on the girl's face.
"So far so good. I finished the Charms essay and the Potion essay. Right before the Quidditch game, so I can watch it without having to worry about any homework that I might have to do. Because then, that's all I think about and it ruins the fun." Eleanor rambled on. Draco smiled at the girl, and cupped her face.
"That's why you're one the smartest witch in our year."
"Well, technically, we are tied remember." Eleanor reminded him. Although true, one of them always passed the other in scores, however the latter would always catch up somehow. Hermione was the first one, of course.
"I'll let you win, any day." Draco couldn't help himself as he watched her features. "It's Slytherin against Gryffindors. You'll cheer me on." Eleanor didn't want to pick whom she would cheer for. Her friends were in Gryffindor, but Draco was in Slytherin.
"I'll cheer both of you, neutral." She smiled. Draco wanted her to pick him over anything else, but he reminded himself that Eleanor Edwards was a girl you would have to work for. It would take time for him to reach that point with her, and he would- he would work for that.
