For the rest of the summer, us kids traveled from estate to estate, and we were becoming the best of friends and having an amazing time.
Blaise's house was an amazing place to play hide and seek. Even he hadn't ever been in half the rooms. We actually got lost rather often, but we just waited for the Zabini house elf to find us. His name was Elden and he made amazing cookies.
Theo's house made me rather sad. It was empty. There were no pictures on the walls, and his parents were never even home. I finally understood his interest in magical contraptions. Unlike the rest of his house, his room was full of life, with objects making noise and changing colors. It was almost as if they made him feel less alone. We made a point to meet at Theo's often.
Crabbe's house was one we avoided unless we were absolutely famished. Seriously, one would have to not eat for three days to make it through one of Mrs. Crabbe's meals.
Goyle has 5 older brothers. They're all one year apart from each other. I feel bad for his mother, honestly. She was basically pregnant for six years straight. But even though Goyles house was big, the amount of testosterone still made it the loudest, smelliest house I had ever been in. But playing quidditch with them was wicked. We basically had our own team, with the Goyles, me and my brothers, Draco, Crabbe, Zabini, and Flint, we could actually play seven on seven, which Flint says most people dont get to do until they're actually at Hogwarts.
Speaking of Flint, I found myself at his house rather frequently, when Priscilla took Winky with her to do errands and left me with Jason and Caleb. When we weren't playing quidditch, those three were off doing Merlin knows what. I suspected they were sending prank owls to girls they fancied, but I wouldn't know. I spent most of my time at Flint's reading in their garden.
Mia and I took every opportunity to see each other. We would spend loads of time at each other's houses, with her teaching me about the wizarding world, and me telling her all about muggles.
"So you're telling me, that muggles cant fly on their own, so they created a machine that could cart dozens of them across the sky all at once?"
"Precisely."
"that seems awfully anxiety inducing."
"It is."Draco came over to my house a few times, when he was allowed. But I was invited to his only three days before we were supposed to leave for Hogwarts. I wasn't quite sure how I felt about it. I told this to Caleb, who said, "Kid, you're his goddaughter. I just know he's feeling extremely guilty about the way you grew up. If anything, he should be nervous."
God, I hoped he was right.
