AMANDA
The year was 1995 and and all was well. Casper was on of the most popular movies of the time, the unmanned Galileo spacecraft finally landed on Jupiter, and Whitney Houston was one of the most successful African-American actress and musician at the time. Things were exactly the way they were supposed to be, until that one unfortunately night. What would happen that night not only change the lives of four teen but, be the beginning of a new life. It all took place three hours earlier, over in Hollywood, at The Orpheum.
"Am I late? Did I miss sound check?" Amanda panted, running into the venue. She placed one hand on her knee, while using her other hand to brush back the strands of hair that fell over her eyes.
"Nope, you're just in time. The boys are about to start," a voice replied from behind her. Amanda snapped her head in the direction of the voice to find it belong to a young latina. The blonde walked over to the latina, who was cleaning a booth for the talent scouts that were coming later tonight.
"Thanks. They'd kill me if I missed our last sound check," She said, standing beside the curly haired brunette.
"You a roadie?" the young latina asked.
"Something of the sorta. I'm a lot of things," Amanda shrugged, erupting a laugh from the girl.
"I'm Rose," she introduces, sticking a hand out.
"Amanda," the blonde responded, shaking Rose's hand.
"Alright, guys, whenever you're ready," a sound check guy announced. The band all looked at each other before nodding at the drummer, Alex, signaling him to count them down.
"One, two, three!" Alex began, clacking his drumsticks together.
"Take off, last stop, countdown till we blast open the top. Face first, full charge, electric hammer to the heart," Luke sang, a large smile plastered on his face.
"Clocks move faster, cause it's all we're after now," he continued. Looking over at Reggie, Luke motioned him over towards his mic. Reggie quickly rushed over as the two began the next verse.
"Won't stop climbing, cause this is our time, yeah," Luke and Reggie both sang into the same mic, smiling at each other. Luke playful shoved Reggie away, causing Amanda to let out a giggle.
"When all the days felt black and white, those were the best shades of my life," Luke said.
"They're amazing! When they play, it's almost as if you can feel a connection with them," Rose awed, watching the performance.
"Yeah, that's what Luke aspires all our songs to do. One of the reasons I look up to him," Amanda grinned, looking back at the stage.
"Don't look down. Cause we're still rising up right now, and even if we hit the ground, we'll still fly keep dreaming like we'll live forever, but live it like it's now or never," Luke continued on as the band harmonized along with him.
