Rhythm

As the weeks went by things were working out really well between the three of us.

We had our own schedules to follow, but they all coincided with each other. I would wake up, make coffee, Jin would wake up, join me for coffee where we talked (as much as two people can when they've just woken up) we would separate, get dressed, I'd wake up Ellie, make breakfast for the three of us, pack our lunches, get Ellie dressed, she would give Jin a hug and tell him to have a good day, I'd take her to school, and then go to work. Afterwards, I'd come home and either Liza or Jin would be playing with Ellie, and on the nights Jin didn't have classes he cooked dinner. Sometimes our morning routine would change and he'd be the one making coffee and breakfast, while packing our lunches.

It was nice.
I never thought I needed or wanted someone to help carry the load with me, I've been doing this all on my own, and now that Jin had moved in, I felt like I was being spoiled.
He even helped with laundry!
Do you know how much I HATE doing laundry? If I didn't have Ellie to worry about my clothes would just be on the floor or thrown over a chair.
We had seemed to find a rhythm that worked for the three of us, like a well oiled machine.

Friday

"Enjoy your weekend!" Carol said to me as I left the office, it was almost ten at night by the time I got to leave.
"You too!" I smiled and waved, I got into my car and groaned as I took my shoes off
"Finally, jesus christ" I mumbled as I started my car, I turned my music all the way up as I drove home. I pulled into the driveway and noticed that Liza's car wasn't here so I was confused as I got out and walked into the house.

I wasn't expecting to see the cutest sight as I opened the door.

There was a makeshift tent made out of pink and white sheets, held together by broom handles, fairy lights lit up the inside of it, and on the inside was Jin and Ellie sleeping. Jin was in a blue prince outfit with a crown on his head while Ellie was in one of her princess gowns with a crown tangled up in her hair and her fairy wings smushed up against Jin's face. Across from the tent was a little table set up with a teapot and tea cups with little pieces of paper in Ellie's writing

Princess Ellie
Queen Mommy
King Jinnie

My Snow White dress was draped over the chair I was supposed to sit in and a crown was on the seat of the chair, I gave a sad smile as I realized they waited for me to come home and join them.

I sighed as I looked over at the two of them in their pillow fort tent and wished I could have been here to have fun with them. I'll admit, this isn't the first time Ellie had done something like this for me and work caused me to miss it. My heart hurt just thinking about it.

I made my way to the kitchen and there was a plate of food wrapped in the fridge waiting for me, I warmed it up and sat down to eat by myself before I got a shower and instead of pajamas I put my Snow White costume on and curled up in the tent with them. I fell asleep between the two of them as I held Ellie close to my chest.

Saturday

I woke up to an empty tent.
I heard Ellie giggling from the kitchen and smelled breakfast
"Now, carefully hold it like this, and flip! Boom! You did it!"
She giggled at him "yessss! It looks perfect right?"
"Absolutely! The best pancake I've ever seen in my life! Mommy is gonna love it!"
She clapped excitedly at his words
"Did you see her dress uncle Jinnie? We're all gonna play dress up for breakfast!"
"I know! I can't wait!"

They continued to laugh and talk as she helped him cook breakfast. I smiled as warmth traveled through my body. I decided to get out of the tent and walk towards the kitchen

"I'm the pancake monsterrrrrr ooooooooh" Jin said making Ellie squeal and giggle, when they came into my view Jin had a pancake on his face with eyes and a mouth cut out of it making me laugh my ass off
"I didn't think you could be anymore handsome Jinnie but the pancake really works for you"
"Aww shucks, thank you"
"Mommy mommy! We made you breakfast!"
"I see! Thank you so much!" I cooed as I kissed her cheeks and ruffled her hair "thank you guys" I smiled

The three of us sat down to eat together as Ellie excitedly told me all about the day she had yesterday and how much fun her and Jin had playing dress up. As we were finishing up breakfast Jin cleared his throat
"Before Liza left last night she said something about asking you if Ellie could go to her house tonight for a sleepover. Apparently there's a new disney movie she wants to watch with her. I told her I'd ask you for her"
"Please mommy! Please!" Ellie pleaded with a pout making me giggle
"Of course. I'll text her and see what time she wants me to drop you off"
"Thank you thank you thank you! I'm gonna go pack my toys!" She squealed as she took off running to her bedroom making Jin and I chuckle.

"Thank you for breakfast Jin, and for the tea party I missed last night" I said as I washed the dishes
"Of course" he smiled as he refilled his coffee cup "so, I was thinking.." he trailed off as he looked around nervously "with Ellie not being home tonight..do you maybe, want to go out for dinner?"
"Sure" I smiled not thinking too much about it
"Awesome" he smiled "I'm uh.. I'm gonna go shower and get changed"
"Okay" I nodded and smiled up at him as he smiled and walked away. I texted Liza as soon as I was done doing the dishes, Ellie dragged her suitcase down the stairs

"I packed my own clothes!"
"How many pairs of socks?"
"Two!"
"How many pairs of panties?"
"Three! Just in case!"
"How many shirts?"
"Three!"
"Pants and shorts?"
"Five!"
I giggled
"How many princess dresses?"
"Seven.." she mumbled with a giggle
"And what about Toby the frog?"
"Yup! He's right here!"
"Tooth brush?"
"Liza has one at her house I use!"

"Where did my little baby goooooo" I whined dramatically as I picked her up and spun her around smothering her in kisses making her giggle as she swatted at me "such a big girl my little baby is! My babyyyyyyy"  I sang as I continued to torture her with my love as she laughed and tried to get out of my hold
"I'm not a baby mommy!" She giggled
"You'll always be my little baby girl!"
"Mommmmmmyyyyyy" she whined making me laugh as I let her go, she took off running into the tent and giggled as she thought she was hiding from me, I laughed and turned around only to smack right into Jin
"Oops! Sorry Jinnie" I laughed as he chuckled
"That's okay" he smiled
"I'm going to get dressed. I'm not sure when Liza wants me to drop her off"
"Okay, I can go with you for the ride if you want?"
"Sure" I smiled as I walked away and made me way up to my room.
I put my black leggings on and a black shirt that says "Punk's not Dead" and my black flats before I put my hair up in a messy bun and slapped some eyeliner on and called it a day. On my days off I hardly ever wear actual clothes, I try to just wear pajamas, but with me leaving the house I figured I'd have to look like a human and not a zombie. Plus I had no idea where Jin and I were gonna go out to eat later but I figured it would be casual. As I opened my bedroom door I heard Liza laughing and giggling at whatever Jin had just said.

I'm not sure why my chest tightened and I felt a little bothered.

I had to remind myself that they're around the same age, and I could never make a move on Jin.. I'm too old, too tired, too busy, too closed off.

I wouldn't be good for him.

Plus, if they like each other than who the hell am I to intervene?

Just let them be happy Yumi.
