03. wrapped around her finger

WRAPPED AROUND HER FINGER

"come on ash, please... for me?" emma pouted, tugging on his arm and staring at him with those puppy eyes he could never say no to.

"i dunno, i'm not really into the blind dating kind of thing"

and i'm not over you.

though in emma's defense, he had told everyone that he was.

"but you'll love her, trust me. she's a sweetheart, right luke?"

emma glanced over at her boyfriend, waiting for him to agree with her and convince ashton to go on a triple date with them, maya and michael.

calum and ellie were out of town, something about ellie meeting his parents or calum meeting hers — emma couldn't remember.

luke nodded, but he knew ashton wasn't ready. it had only been three months since luke and emma had started dating.

but a new girl had just been hired at the bar, carly, and emma couldn't pass on the opportunity — she thought carly would be perfect for ashton.

she may have also been feeling guilty about how things ended between them, and most likely would've set him up with this girl even if she wasn't perfect.

"fine," ashton huffed. "i'll do it for you"

"you're amazing," emma squealed and pulled him into a hug, failing to notice how flustered he was once emma broke the hug. "get ready, we're leaving in thirty minutes" she announced before joining luke on the couch.

an hour later and the six of them had arrived at a carnival. it was december, so instead of lemonade there was hot chocolate, ice skating rather than roller coasters. the six friends promised to stay together for a majority of the day — though luke made a point to let emma know they'd be breaking off from the group at some point to ride the ferris wheel.

emma agreed, which worked perfectly for luke because he had something to ask emma.

once everyone had paid and received wristbands, they decided to start the day by going ice skating.

before they could put on their skates, luke grabbed emma and pulled her to the side before shouting towards his friends "start without us, we'll catch up" 

he received a disapproving look from michael, who retorted with "you guys better not have a quickie somewhere"

the blonde received a simultaneous eye roll from luke and emma before innocently smiling and joining maya on the ice.

once the couple was out of ear shot from their friends, luke placed both hands on her shoulders.

"i know you're excited for ashton, but try not to meddle too much, em. if they hit it off, great, if not, don't try to force it, okay?"

she eagerly nodded, gave luke a quick kiss on the cheek, and skipped over towards the bench so she could put her skates on.

"do you know how to ice skate?" luke asked emma while he joined her on the bench.

"i do" she smiled as she put her skates on, thinking back to when ashton had taught her how to skate without falling every few steps.

"good, because i fucking suck at it— which means i'll be holding onto you the entire time"  he flashed her a cheeky smile before kneeling down in front of emma to lace her skates up for her.

once both skates were laced up nice and tight, luke stood up and wobbled over towards the entrance.

"lucky me" emma teased.
